OT X Post: : Sort of a Rant

First the rant. about 3 weeks ago my 13 year got his nose pierced. I obviously had no problem with it, since I signed for him. He has had it in ever since. There is nothing in the school handbook ( city wide or specific school ) about piercings. Today, ( after having it for 3 weeks) the schoolcounselor told him it was against the dress code. Well, I got my handy dandy handbooks out..nada, nothing, zilch, zip. The only thing it says is that no jewelery that can be used as a weapon can be worn. Printed those suckers off. I mean really, what is he going to do? Blow boogers at someone?
Truly, earring can be used as a weapon, if you want to get down to brass tacks. So can pencils, pens, belts and shoelaces.

Anyhow, I have to take him to school tommorrow. He has an interview at the tech school he wants to attend in the morning. I am fully expecting something to be said.

So what is your take on this?

A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything.

Nothing tastes as good as being thinner feels.

I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

Renee, in our middle school we have students with earrings, lip rings, nose rings, eyebrow rings and Lord only knows where else and we don't and can't say a thing.  I don't know what your school's problem is, but I'd sure be finding out. To each his own I say.......Good luck and God bless.

On my way out the door,

Loretta

The only thing I can think that they might have a problem with it in his nose is in case he gets in a fight or is bullied.  If he i*****hed in the nose it could cause a lot of damage.

BUT, if he i*****hed in the nose, a nose ring is the least of their concerns. And if he is involved in being bullied, then a nose ring is again, the least of their concerns.

But then again, if these actions "woulda, coulda" take place then they need to take away the potential of ears being torn (earrings), bra's being snapped, hair being pulled, etc.

I would like to hear the explanation you are given from the administrators.

Hugging you lots today!!! Can't wait to see you in two weeks.
