I go for my 6th weigh in on Thursday. April 24th will be my last one.

Question: how long did it take to be back on your feet?

Like I said, april 24th will be last weigh in. May 15th-my son graduates. then may 30th-i have a wedding to attend. Would it be best to just have it in June? considering if all goes threw on insurance. I want it done today. I'm so ready.

Deb make sure that you go 7 times as they say the first visit does not count. Keep going until you can approved.  Don't want you to have to start all over again.

Well you are on your way!! I had my surgery on Monday and went back to work the following Monday. I kept wandering if they really did anything after the first week... The only difference after the first week was that I wasn't hungry..

But as far as the weigh ins Yeah I went for my 6th visit and thought I was thru and they called me and told me I had to go for one more.. So as she said make sure you go until you are approved!!

I will. This thursday is 6th weigh in. April 24th is 7th.

I just don't want to feel bad for my son grad or the wedding

I just got my approval from BCBS and my surgeon's office had warned me that there must be 7 appointments, and the day of the month of the last one must be AFTER the day of the month for the 1st visit....7 visits total over a 6 month period....they told me the #1 reason people get rejected is because of this.

Oh, and it only took 4 days to get the approval once it was sent in!! The kicker is that my surgeon wont schedule on just the verbal approval, so I have to wait for the paper letter from BCBS....It's been one week since I got the call and still no paper letter....

I have been working on this process for 18 months (12 of which I gave my self to research and soul search!)--I know it will be worth it!

Good Luck!! I can't wait. I made sure i scheduled my last appt the right way(april 24). I know I will have a pre-op class and all that after my insurance approves me.

I'm having the gastric bypass. just wondering how long some of you were out of work or not feeling too good.

How long you will be out of work depends a lot on what kind of job you have.  I have a desk job and was only out 2 weeks.  I felt good enough after one week, but am glad my dr made me take two weeks.  You really do need a minimum of two week in my opinion (others may feel differently).  If you have a more active job, then you would need to be out longer, depending on what type of duties your job requires.

I wouldn't have surgery less than 10 days before your son's graduation.  You may want to just wait until afterwards, especially since you have no idea what the surgeon's schedule will be like and when he can fit you in.  If he can get you in quickly, then go for it.

Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide to do.  It's exciting when you finally get this close to your surgery.  Before you know it you will be a loser like the rest of us!
