where on here do i find the insurance info
i like the old obh site,now i can not find anything like the memorials of people who have passed or the insurance providors list. ..........where are they? any way,i have a consultation with my regular family doctor to discuss if he will allow me to do the 6th month diet so i can even see the dr who will even consider me for a paitent,if i can find a wls doctor,alabama is so last in all an everything i, HOPE OBAMA DOES LIKE HE SAYS AND LOOKS IN TO HELPING THOSE WHO NEED THIS SURGERY,IM SO TIRED OF GOING TO DOCTOR AFTER DOCTOR IN 8 YEARS AN GETTING TURNED DOWN,,I DO NOT UNDERSTAND,WHY THE INSURANCE IM ON THAT IS MEDICAID,IS SO AGAINST ME WANTING TO LIVE
DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY ADVICE ON WHAT I SHOULD DISCUSS WITH THIS NEW FAMILY PRACTICE DOCTOR ILL BE SEEING IN THE MONDAY AFTERNOON?

It helps if your family doctor is familiar with WLS and is on board with you having it done. Mine was very supportive and knew the "process" we needed to follow (the six month diet and what all was required with that....all the hoops you have to jump through for you insurance).
I wouldn't think you would have a problem getting approved through Medicaid, assuming your BMI is above 40 and/or you have comorbidities. Maybe you just haven't found the right doctors. If you are having a difficult time finding a family doctor to support your decision and follow you through your six month diet, you may want to ask your surgeon's office to recommend a PCP that is WLS friendly. I live in S. Alabama so I am not familiar with ANY of the Dr's in Birmingham.
Just be honest with your family doctor about why you want to have the surgery, any weight related problems you are having, how long you have been considering having WLS (so they know it's not just a whim...that you have thought long and hard about it). Having WLS can drastically improve your health and quality of life.
