Tammy,
Just ask your doctor the questions that is on your mind about this surgery.Ask him which surgery is best for you.Anything you wanna know about the surgery, just ask him.You can also ask him how many surgeries he's done what are the risks.Does he do revision if necessary and how he feels about Revisions.Ask him about the success rate he has with the surgeries.Anything that comes to mind right it down and then you will be able to get the answers you need. Hope this helps!  I will be praying for you.
God Bless!

Tammy,

Not really sure I was told that the coctor in huntsville,Dr.Murrel is on vaction and they would put me through a class before she seen me.I have to call and check how they are doing things. I will get back to you on that.It might be a few days because of my work schedule. But I will let you know something. God Bless!

The 6 month diet has to be six FULL months, which translates into seven monthly visits.  It's kind of like the first visit doesn't count.  I had to do a six month supervised diet (though not through UAB) and only lost 10 lbs...half of which I promptly gained back and lost several times during that six months.  Six months seems like a long time, but once you get past the first couple of months, it seems to fly by.

Not sure what type of questions you would need to ask your PCP.  Mine was familiar with WLS and the process since she already had several of her patients go through the process and have the surgery.  Brandy is right...just ask whatever questions come to mind.  If you think you might forget something, write down your questions beforehand and take your question list with you.

Good luck on your 6 month diet.  You'll do great and before you know it, it will be surgery time.

OK...just my 2 cents worth here!! IF you go to Dr. Murrell's orientation and feel "lost", it is because you don't speak up!! She is VERY thorough and a very caring, compassionate Christian person and wonderful surgeon. The orientation is for your information, and you can call her office the day following the orientation to schedule a consultation with her. After the consult, she can schedule your surgery. She will follow you for 5 years after your WLS before you no longer have to go back for yearly check ups.

My brother-in-law is having her do his WLS on Tuesday.  She did my husband's gall bladder surgery a little over a year ago. I would not even consider another surgeon for anything that se could do.

Like I said...JMO!!!!!
