I am one month out and I need more variety..... Did anyone eat toast or noodles? I am just curious I'm getting sick of milk cheese and soups. What do you all think of eating breads or beef I heard I am not supose to eat beef?
Thanks

Hi Carmen!

RNY or LapBand? I had LapBand but I think similar rules apply for both, post-surgically.

About one month after surgery, I remember enjoying pintos -n- cheese, mashed potatoes,  lima beans, steamed, soft carrots, and very moist chicken, chopped up finely.  I think I tried egg noodles that were very tender too. Yogurt was good too! Just be careful of the sugar content.

You may want to check with your nutritionist too.

Hang in there.  Your body is probably a little sore from the surgery but very soon, all that discomfort and boring food will be nothing compared to the new, awesome body you are creating!!!

Good luck and wellness to you,
Nanci

I still have a hard time with beef after 3 1/2 years.  I do love fish and crab meat a lot.  You could probably eat both of these.  I could not have beef for 9 months after surgery.  However, I did have fish and crab prior to that.  I also ate eggs.  Can you eat turkey bacon??  I loved it and still do.  I could not have bread so early out.  You need to ask your doctor.  I wish you all the best.

Seems like that early out I was eating a lot of SF Jello, pudding, cottage cheese and yogurt, along with the pintos, mashed potatoes, etc already mentioned. I still do not eat a lot of beef. I can tolerate it alright, I just choose not to eat it. What about tuna??

Best thing is to follow your doctor's guidelines VERY closely and you will do fine. Good luck to you!!

Low sugar/carb yogurt, boil chicken breast with boullion, then put the breast in a blender to puree it, add a little lite maybe or miracle whip and blend it again....add some of the juice if you need to make it more moist...It's pretty good if you ask me.  You can even add boiled egg to it.

Hope that helps you

I wouldn't recommend toast and/or noodles.  Both are loaded with carbs and could also be hard on your stomach.  At almost 3 years out, I have to careful with both toasted breads AND pasta.  Try eating smooth or pureed forms of protein. The more protein and the less carbs, the better off you'll be.  At this point, dense proteins (chicken, beef, fish) will be VERY filling and you probably will only be able to eat an ounce or two. BUT they definitely should be pureed if you try them.  Try reduced fat cottage cheese, eggs (be careful--eggs make a lot of people kind of nauseous), refried beans with melted cheese (try reduced fat and fat free beans and they will be less likely to make you nauseated if you have any problems with that).  Also, try Wendy's chili (well chewed). It was a good standby for me early out.  I know it's easy to get in a rut, so I hope you do well with some of these suggestions.  Good luck!
