So I am struggling and it is too soon for this to be happening.  I am only 6 mo out RNY and have lost 95 lbs...well I gained 2 lbs this past week and it is really bothering me.  But I don't know if it is what I'm eating, how much I'm eating or if I'm building muscle.  I started working out at the YMCA with weights and doing cardio too about 3 times a week.  I have been walking and riding my bicycle since before surgery, but I have really stepped it up in the last month.

I do have a problem with my Mexican food fix too.  Chips and salsa with a tamale....I can only eat half of the tamale, and I always leave the rest, but the chips and salsa is my biggest weakness.  Another problem I have is that I DO NOT DUMP.  I had a small piece of birthday cake on my daughter's 2 yr bday last weekend and it did not bother me at all....In fact, nothing with sugar in it bothers me and I don't understand that, I thought everyone dumped???

Well I guess that's enough rambling..Keep me in your prayers, pray that I make good choices!!
Thanks for listening.

Stephanie,
You are doing so great! You look fabulous as well.I wouldn't worry too much on 2 lbs as you said it might be a muscle popping out there.Keep up the great work in working out you will gain  more muscles and lose the weight elsewhere. I am here to talk if you need me.I am sending hugs  your way and praying for you! I hope you have a very Blessed day!!

With God's Gracious Love,

Hey Stephanie!

Unfortunately, I too have a high tolerance for dumping on sugar.  I just have to stay away from temptation and sometimes it's hard.  A gain of 2 lbs could just be normal weight fluctuations.  I know my weight fluctuates 2-3 lbs depending on the day and time of day.  Don't sweat it too much, but definitely keep an eye out that 2 lbs doesn't become 4 lbs.  If you just started working out, you could very well be building up muscle mass, which could be another explanation for the 2 lbs.  95 lbs loss is terrific.  Keep up the great work!

Hi Stephanie!!!   The weight gain is probably muscle.  You have increased exercise and I have been told that you can put on a few pounds, but it will come off.  Measure yourself.  You may be losing inches which will show your loss.  I dump still, so I don't know what to tell you about that.  I cannot eat over 8 or 9 grams of sugar at a time or I am in for trouble.  Maybe you could talk with your nutritionist or doctor for some advice.  I am sure there are others on here who can give you some better ideas than myself.  I just wanted to let you know that I think you have done a great job and I am sure you will continue to do so.  You take care and keep on doing that exercise.  You will get to your goal!!!

Hi Stephanie.  I do not dump either.  Oh how I wish I did.  I agree with the others, the 2 pounds is muscle or normal weight fluctuation.  You are right to keep a watch.  Now about the chips and salsa.  You don't eat that everyday.  I don't think we need to deprive ourselves of something we really enjoy.  If it was something we did everyday or very often I would say STOP, but once in a while will not hurt.  Moderation is a skill we all need to learn.  What has happened with me is that I don't do moderation well enough.  I am trying!!!  But remember I am almost 5 years out.

Hi Stephanie,

Sounds like you are doing GREAT!!!  95 lbs. in 6 months is awesome!  That is about what I had lost in 6 mo. and I am nearly 6 years out now.  I do get sick on sugar!  I have to be very careful with what I have with sugar in it.  Don't tempt yourself with it and then you will never know what you can and can not tolerate.  I know it is hard!  When tempted, post, people here will walk you through it.  YOU CAN DO IT!!!  Most of us have been where you are and it brings lots of memories back!  Let us know if we can help you!
