I saw the sleep specialist yesterday. The good news..he thinks he can help me. The other good news, he and his nurse listened, I mean really listened. My PCP's nurse told me I wrong when I told her I suspected that I malabsorb any of the sleep meds I have been given. Her theory that at 5 years out I have normal guts and absorption. Yeah, mmkay..that is why supplements are lifelong for me.
Anyhow, The doc sus pects RLS, and has started me on mirapex and a very low dose of ambien. I also have some behavior mods to do. I have  a sleep- study at the end of March. Hopefully this will take care of my issues.

I hope you are able to get to the root of your problem.  It's great when you find a doctor (and nurse) that listens to and HEARS what you are saying and acts on it.  RLS can definitely cause sleep problems without you even knowing about it.  Have you had a sleep study before?  I was surprised that I not only was able to sleep, but I slept rather well during my sleep study.  Even hooked up to all those electrodes.

I am so glad that you finally found somone to listen.  It makes a big difference doesn't it?  Praying that God ministers healing to you and this works.  Thank GOD He gave Dr.s the knowledge He did.  I have built up a tolerance of ambien and it doesn't work so well for me anymore.  It just makes me crazy!  Ask Lucy and Allison.  I have given those things to Lucy to KEEP AWAY from me!  The Mirapex works great!

OH.  What did they say about your iron?

Last night was my first night with mirapex..I tossed and turned most of the night. I imagine it will take a minute to get in my system.

Dr. Roy has ordered a new set of labs to check my ferritin. That is something my pcp did not check. Really, I just want my life back. The sleep issue is affecting everything I do. I am just worn out.
