WHat criteria was used in getting your iron infusion? I am exhausted. My last blood work showed my iron as 108, and they did not check my ferritin. Ny b12 was 2000, but I recieved my b12 shot 5 minutes before my blood eas drawn. I am at wits end. I am am just too tired to do anything.

I would make an appt again for them to check your ferritin, then ask them to refer you to a hemotologist. I use Dr Lobo in Decatur.. Mine was a negative one this past time. How you can have negative one is beyond me. I go Wednesday for my follow up because ive been taking 8 weeks of iron infusions. This past week marks the one year anni that i started taking iron infusions. I have other issues contributing though.

Have the infusions helped? I see the doc again tomorrow morning. I just don't get how his nurse could say iron was 108, but my RBC was in the toilet. And they said I had signs of anemia. So I dunno..but I wanna scream. This is taking a toll on my whole family.

Renee what was your HGB? Do you have your labs in front of you? I was going to ask about some of the other values on your CBC. I to had to do the infusion back in 1987 and 1988. If I can answer any of your question please let me know. I did a lot of research before I agreed to the infusion.

Not Renee but I need help too ...  My Dr said I have anemia and started me on ferratin which makes me SICK , We have changed a couple times same thing ..
My thing is someone told me I have low B-12 but my B-12 number was high on the CBC panel but the MCV and MCH was low..
What does this mean ..  Seeing my Dr :internal med here is a 2-4 hr wait etc etc and would like to find a new one of those too but dont know who in there area to choose..
Anyway do you understand the MCH & MCV thing..

yes they help for a little while, but i have alot of female problems, so i have to build my iron back up and infusions seems to be the best way they think

Hey Renee.  Sorry I didn't see this sooner.  My Surgeon sent me to Shelby Cancer Center in Alabaster (next to his office).  They checked my iron level and put me on liquid iron because the pills make me so sick.  Well, the liquid iron did the same thing.  They called me because I missed my 6 month follow up.  I'm glad I went.  Dr. Gapulara didn't know how I was walking around.  It all made sense because I had no energy and all I wanted to do was sit or lay around.  He gave me and infusion and the VERY NEXT DAY I felt SO much better!  I still feel good.  I've been going for walks, cleaning, and even overdoing it.  LOL  If my legs could/would hold out (poor circulation which I am praying and believing that God is going to heal), I think I could walk to New York.  LOL  I have to go back Thursday for labs and then again to see him Monday.  If my iron is low then, he is going to give me another infusion that day.  If I feel any better, I won't know what to think. 

Get yourself checked.  You'll be glad you did if that is the problem.  Know that I am praying for you my friend!
