Maybe a stupid question...but...

Ok, so im wondering if anyone can give me some info or atleast tell me of your experience maybe??

Ive been having major issues..first of all.. my iron has plummeted into the negative. Dr Lobo said it was a negative 1. (how you can be a negative is beyond me).. Ive been taking iron infusions for almost a year. This isnt helping for long term. When i go back for a 3 month checkup my iron is back down. I take iron twice a day, sometimes 3 days a day when my stomach can handle it.
in the past few weeks my hair has started falling out in handfuls. literally.
Ive gained weight. I had lost 10 lbs, but now ive gained that back. Ive gained roughly 40lbs of the 120 i orginially lost. My gyno thinks the reason ive gained and cant lose is due to the iron problem and my PCOS. Im not exactly worried about the weight right now, i can work on getting that off when i start feeling better, my doctors keep saying they dont see how im walking around. I do get up and go to work daily and i have a 5 year old i raise by myself. I go to bed at 8 and get up at 6. Im completely exhausted all the time. I fall asleep at work sometimes. I can barely function. Ive stayed with my aunt all week and i went to bed at 6pm Wednesday night and didnt wake up at all until 6am the next morning.. to be honest, Its all scaring me and my whole family.

My question is.. Do you think a revision would help the anemia? IM only asking this because my aunt brought it up and i have absolutely no clue. Maybe a revision to lap band or something else?? I dont know. I just would like your opinions before i bring it up to my doctor on Wed.

I'll be away from the computer until Monday, but i'll definitely check then.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Hilary I do know how you feel. I have been there and done the whole route your talking about. I honestly did not know how bad I did feel until I was able to feel good. I did the iron infusion and got absoutely no help from them.  My suggestion is to get under a Hematologist and let him do a work up on you. You might need to do a bone morrow and see what that will tell them.  I am going to send you a PM and give you some more suggestion to look at.

First of all it's good to see you posting! Missed you.. now I know what you've been up to. Just plain old tired I'm sure!! Bless your heart.
In my opinion (and I would seek out a 2nd opinion from another good surgeon - Dr. Freeman or Dr. Dewitt), a revision is not the way to go. You don't know where a revision would put you- it could actually make you worse off than before. You have to realize having RNY your body has been permantley changed and would be hard to get it back together and make your body absorb the way it did before. And a surgery like that could be long, drawn out, and life threatening.
I would do as Louise suggested and speak with a specialist and see if there is something else might help. If not, please talk with more than one surgeon - don't let one opinion be the decision.
I am praying for you and standing in faith that you will feel better soon!!
