Other than shakes and peanut butter protein balls.  Does anyone have any ideas?  My friend is a personal trainer  yeah she's in shape and cute...  She said she made a banana bread with protein powder, I thought that was interesting.  I just bought a magic bullet to go, and I love that thing.

thanks,
Angie

Angie,

IF you like starbucks they have a protein drink there( cant think of the name right off the bat).  I like to get a frap and have them add protein to it-- you could even home make them if you like.   Just a  thought

I eat a lot of cheese and like a cheese snack called "Just the Cheese" made by the Specialty Cheese Company.  It's great to munch on and are almost all protein 5:1 ratio of protein to carbs.  I also drink protein smoothies from Smoothie King,  I have heard great things about the Bullet.  Need to get me one some day.

Protein powder can be added to almost anything...and it doesn't change the taste, usually.  It can be used with your Magic Bullet smoothies, baked in various breads, mixed into casseroles, etc.  You can always double the cheese in your recipes.  You can even add protein powder to cookie dough that you make with Splenda Blend....it takes the place of some of the flour.  Don't forget to think in terms of drinking boullion....egg drop soup is good.....Bring bouillion to a boil and then pour a string of well beaten egg in, add chopped green onions....nice refreshing lunch or snack.  Don't forget eggs....you can add a boiled egg to lots of things and that adds protein.  I think you can also take protein supplements from GNC....but I don't know how well that works.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned beans. Beans and peas are very high in protien. I make bean or pea patties. Mash beans and add an egg and a little flour. Spray a cookie sheet with Pam. Spoon bean mixture on cookie sheet and flatten. Spray tops with Pam and bake until crisp. You can add onions, bell pepper, chopped tomatos, corn, etc.
Another good protien source is yogurt.

Make sure you do what your doctor tells you first. But two weeks after surgery you are still in recovery period.  I had grits and oatmeal and of course refried beans, that close after surgery you are not so much worried about getting enough protein just try to eat very very small amounts at a time and more often, once you get the clear from dr to eat more there are the protein shakes and protein soups you can get.  Tomorrow when I have more time I will send you some info.  I am 3 year plus out so for me it is so different.  You can add protein powder to all kinds of things, that is why I put this post out there to get Ideas from others and see what they are doing.
I know that each surgeon is different when you first come out of surgery and hopefully they will give you lots of info.  I did the chewable prenatal vitamins until I could start taking pills.  I just found out yesterday that I was not taking enough of my prenatals by mouth.  The bottle said take two to get the recommended daily allowances, I had my bloodwork drawn because I have had a lot of pain in my joints and muscles lately.  I started drinking 2 smoothies a day with protein powder added and I know that I will get sick of that so that is why I wanted more ideas.  Have a good night and I will send you info later.

These baked egg cups from Shelly (Eggface) looked good to me. Maybe that's something you could try?  :)
