Cruisers re: fuel credit
I wrote to the planner for the group and this is the email response that I recieved:
As for the fuel supplement suspension. This will most likely pertain to your group as well as your sailing is not until January. Essentially, the fuel supplements that were added to our rates last year have been suspended. This was included in your government taxes / fees = $83.56/pp... ($45 fuel supp + $38.56 gov't taxes). The company is making this decision and is still being worked out to every single booking affected. What would most likely occur, is that your guests will be refunded this in the form of shipboard credit. However, bear in mind this was a corporate decision and this is being implemented on all bookings as we speak. Therefore I will continue to monitor your booking and let you know if / when your booking will be adjusted accordingly. However, please also remember this is based on the fact that the cost of fuel has gone down for now. Should it rise again, Carnival Cruise Lines does reserve the right to reinstate the fuel supplement charges at any time.

I would have thought that they would have sent this out to ever body. The first letter I got was over a week ago and then another one Sunday. I am just glad that they will apply it to our onboard credit. I am excited that we will already have some credit when we board. WooHoooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The ship credit is used for anything and everything you buy onboard. They do not accept cash/checks, etc. Everything is taken from the deposit you put on the little card. So sovenirs, etc are all taken from this card you receive. Its like your own little credit card - with a limit. Or limit is the amount of money you put on it. :) I hope that makes sense and I didn't royally confuse you.

Debbie...you have a sail and sign card that is given to you upon arrival. That is why you need to fill out the information at the Carnival site soon. If you have not prepaid your tips, the credit can go toward that. Also, they have gift shops on the boats, different things you can buy and you will probably want to purchase some of the pictures they will make of you and Jimmy. You can use this money for any of that. They will not let you pay money on the cruise ship. You have to use your sail and sign card (which is like a credit card and is secured by a credit card, debit card or cash). I hope this makes sense. Everything is included. This is for extra things that you might want.
Hey Debbie you are not a dingbat. I did not know some of this last year. Also say you put $100 on that card and you buy $200 worth of stuff they will have you a bill the morning of disembarktion. You will then have to settle up before you can leave. I had to do that last year as I spent so much on buying pictures. Can't wait to see you and Jimmy.
