Christmas Party! Please come!

I'm having a Christmas party this upcoming Sunday December 7th at 2pm.  It is technically a jewelry party so there will be things for sale, but it is also what I hope will be an annual event at my house, like an open house which I hope will be bigger and better every year.  The emphasis is going to be on holding those dear to me, ever near to me once more, or however the song goes.  The jewelry thing is just an excuse to get some hugs!

If anyone is in the Sheffield/Muscle Shoals/Florence area and can make it, I would truly LOVE to see you all.  Or if you live anywhere and can make it here, that would be the BEST!  I MISS you guys!

The party will be at 2309 E. 14th Ave., Sheffield, AL.  It is right off 2nd St. and behind the Fire Dept.

Now...does anyone have any ideas on really cheap refreshments I can serve that require little or no work???  My arthritis won't let me stand on my feet enough to do anything too fancy and my nerves won't let me do anything fancy even if I had any cartilige in my knees.  I'm hoping I can do better refreshments next year, but this year they're gonna be kind of scarce unless I can find some quick and easy ideas.  You guys are the best source of good ideas and if you come, you're gonna want to eat good stuff, so help me out here!   All I've bought so far are some chocolate covered pretzels.  I've got some Rocky Road protein.  I could make some protein balls if I can find my recipe.  Are they easy to make?

I am so hoping some of you can come.  It seems like years since I saw you last!

Love and hugs,
Joni

I love jewelry! What kind is it? I know it would be so much fun.
They are not wls friendly, but you can get those little sugar cookies that have Christmassy designs on them, you just put them on a cookie sheet and bake. They are usually 2 pks for 5 or 6 dollars and ea pk makes 24..
Have a good time for me. My grand baby is being dedicated that Sunday, and I have no idea where Sheffield is.
Take care, Jan

Jan, Sheffield is about an hour west of Huntsville, 2 hours north of Birmingham and is in the northwest corner of Alabama.  Your comment reminded me of some t-shirts I saw one time that said (on the front) "Where the H--- is Florence, AL?" and on the back, it said, "Who the H--- cares?"  LOL

Good idea about the sugar cookies!  I have a recipe for quick and easy sugar cookies I may make as I think I already have the ingredients here.    I'm glad you reminded me of those so I would remember my recipe.

Baby dedications are so wonderful.  My nephew's baby's dedication sermon was so sweet.  There were several babies and ours was the most perfect, of course. :)

The jewelry is Premier Designs.  If you want a catalog, email me your snail mail address and I will send you one if you want.  If not, that's fine.  I'm the least pushy salesperson you can imagine.  I like to sell it because it supports Christian missions (and pays my beautiful PT Cruiser bill!) but I am not a good salesperson.  Luckily the jewelry sells itself.  I love me some jewelry too.  When I was a little girl, my mama used to call me "Sparkle Plenty" after that little girl in the Dick Tracy cartoons.  When I was in grammar school, I used to wear those little 50¢ rings you could get at KMart on EVERY finger!  I always loved dressing up and the more sparkly, the better!

Thanks!

What about mini Ham/Cheese rolls with an olive on top held with a toothpick?
(got that idea from Elle a few years ago at one of our gatherings)

Brownies are always a hit...and you can doctor them up with Heath Bar crunchies (in the mix) or
put a large bar of Symphony Chocolate for extra yummy for your guest.  Brownies can be cut small too...and made ahead of time.

Homemade Pimento Cheese and crackers or with Celery Sticks

Homemade Pimento Cheese
INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
  • 1 (4 ounce) jar pimento peppers, chopped with juice reserved
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 pound shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a medium bowl, stir together the chopped pimentos, their juice, and the mayonnaise. Add the cheese, and stir until thoroughly coated. Stir in the pecans and season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately, or refrigerate until serving.
  2. This can be made without the pecans.
You can make a shrimp Christmas tree...if you buy the ready to eat shrimp...and sometimes it is on sale.  Take a large styrofoam cone, wrap it in foil and then toothpick each shrimp into the wrapped cone to make your tree.  Serve with ****tail sauce.
(got this idea from Elle too)

    Dipped  Crackers...
Take 2 Ritz crackers (or the WM brand) put smooth peanut butter in between the 2 crackers to make a sandwich...then dip it in white chocolate, place it on wax paper to dry, but before the chocolate dries...sprinkle with festive Christmas sprinkles.  These are usually a big hit.
I hope your party is a big hit!!!

I love those dipped crackers and plan on making those if I can.  I've never sprinkled them with Christmas sprinkles though....great idea!

That shrimp tree wouldn't last until the party.  I LOVE shrimp.  People would wonder why I had a foil covered tree poked with toothpicks.  LOL

Pimiento cheese sounds good.  I LOVE Pimiento cheese.

Lots of good ideas here if I can just carry them out.  My main trouble is finding the energy to clean up my house!

I need to learn to like coffee so I can get some caffeine in me.  I just wanna lie in the bed and watch TV....sigh.

But I can't wait to see my friends!

Love,

Thank you, my friend!  I know you would be there if you could.  I chose the 7th because I wanted to make absolute sure that any jewelry ordered would get back by Christmas.  Also, a lot of people get paid on the 3rd, so I wanted everyone to have a chance to have gas money to get here and money to buy jewelry should they want to.

Maybe next year you can come to the next "annual" party.  I hate whoever schedules your work hours.  They're going to have to do better than that!  Scheduling you to work during Ren Faire weekend and now this!

My arthritis is worse lately too.  I'm scared I'm going to have to start using my walking cane again, especially in this weather!

I miss you too!

Love,
Joni

I only get every other weekend off, its a bummer but it pays the bills ya know. Im scheduling time off in January, cross your fingers. Id love to go back to the Shrine and maybe the Grotto if you have time, maybe this spring we can plan on this!

I tried this and loved it!! its easy and you can always use a can of Bruce's yams, drained and mashed too, instead of leftover sweet potatoes. It cuts into squares, you can cut smaller squares and slide em on a platter, if need be or let em serve themselves. I emailed you alot of recipes and dips.
