Any of you guys ever make White BBQ Sauce? I love it with smoked and grilled chicken. If you have made or eaten it, you know it is loaded with mayo. Just wondering if I could replace the mayo with plain yogurt and get a similar taste (or at least do 1/2 & 1/2)?  Let me know you thoughts.

I have had white BBQ sauce before. My dad makes it from scratch and it does contain alot of mayo but I have no clue to the yogurt as I have not had it that way.Big Bob Gibson's BBQ in Decatur sells the sauce as well.Hope you can find what you are looking for. It is a really good BBQ sauce to eat. God Bless!

The sugar free. low fat mayo does work.  However, I just justify that mayo is made of egg whites (the healthiest part of the egg and high protein), oil (which we need) and vinegar....which helps with digestion....so Mayo is a health food...where Salad Dressing (Miracle Whip) is not.  Yeah, well, this argument didn't work with my home economic teacher in high school either....but hey, it's a great try.

I make my own and use real mayo, splenda, white worshester, and a little vinegar ( I think, I am not looking at the recipe as we speak).  You can look it up online and you may find one with yogurt.

I did a "light" searcha nd all the recipes I found were made of mayo. I like your logic..lol! I don;t like miracle whip...ick!! I will probably make it with light mayo. My recipe calls for that, apple cidar vinegar, lemon juice, salt, pepper, red pepper and sugar (of course I will use splenda). I am a dipper anyway. I don't like it poured over my chicken, so I wouldn't be getting tons of it.

From what I understand, the original recipe calls for Miracle Whip with NO SUGAR in the sauce.
Here is what I found...I hope it helps.
I think you are just going to have to experiment.
INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
  • 2 cups mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 6 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 6 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
  • 4 tablespoons white sugar

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, pepper, salt, lemon juice, vinegar and sugar. Mix all together until smooth. Use to baste chicken, pork chops or ribs as they cook on the grill. Serve extra as dipping sauce!

Thanks! Thisis real similar to the recipe I have. Mine calls for apple cidar vinegar and 2 Tbsp sugar/splenda. I ended up just making the fully loaded stuff last night. I want to grill some chicken breast this afternoon and the sauce is much better after it sets for a few hours. Thanks again!
