Anybody want a Dog?

I have two males that I have to give away.

They are both a reddish color, both males and both 1/2 lhasa/poo 1/2 shihtzu.

Harley weighs approx 20 lbs and Ringo weighs approx 10-12 lbs.

They will make good dogs for someone who has no other males and they are good with kids.  They have both grown up around Dylan but I have to keep them seperated because the males do not get along.  It has just gotten to be too much on me keeping my 3 males seperated.

Harley is 3-4 years old and Ringo is 1-2 years.

If anyone is interested, please email me at [email protected]

My only other alternative is taking them to a no-kill shelter in Dothan.  I would love to find them homes on my own.

Thanks,
Dixie

Dixie,
I hope you find those babies a new loving home soon.  I have THREE now, so no way could I take on more     From time to time I go on craigslist.com to look at animals to be given away, so that might be an option for you to post an ad there.

Good Luck!

Love,
Beth

(((((((BETH))))))))) Great to see your beautiful face on here.

This has been weighing so heavy on my heart but I feel it's the right thing to do.  It's not fair to them to keep one or two at a time blocked off from the rest of them.  The no-kill shelter in Dothan is definitely an option if I can't find someone to take them on my own.  Gisela says they are awesome.  They are very particular about who gets the animals there.  I'm just not sure I could drive that far with them and leave them there looking at me.  I feel like I am abandoning a child and it truly brings tears to my eyes.  I'm hoping I can find someone local so I can at least keep up with them.

I was looking at pictures from our Atlanta trip recently and talk about some awesome memories!!

Dixie,
Thanks for sharing these pictures...I have them on an old computer that is in storage at the moment.  WOW have I gained weight since those pictures were taken!  I suppose "eating on the run" has caught up with me.  I hope you find homes for your babies real soon.  BTW, I have a Harley too!

Love ya,
Beth

i live in the counrty and i heard that people get-steal-adopt dogs to sell them for lab testing. just a warning. if you dont believe ask someone at the pound about it.  most of the shelters will not take any more because of too many.
are they fixed sometimes cutting there balls wil make them nicer.

Thanks for the warning.  The shelter in Dothan (if they are accepting) would not even let a friend of mine adopt a 12 y/o cat because she wanted it for outside and she is an animal-lover like myself and it would have been well taken care of.

Someone else said that "cutting their balls" might make a difference but can't afford to do that right now and I'm about at my wit's end. I have two outside boys and they have never fought and are not fixed.  I think the little ones fight because they think one is getting more attention than the other.

It just gets frustrating.

Hi Dawn!

I saw this post and Corny's too.  I just wanted to say that Corny does a point that advertising the dogs could attract someone with the worst of intentions.  What county do you live in?  We live in Shelby County and the Humane Society offers a very low cost spay/neuter program.  I think male dogs are $15 per operation.  Your county may offer a similar program.

I have a GS Troop and we volunteer a lot for the Humane Society both here and in Jefferson County.  I know the shelters are packed right now but I completely understand your situation.  I hope it works out for you all.

Peace, Nanci

That's a great idea! We live in Lee County.  I will definitely check and see if they offer a program like that.  All of my females are fixed and the 3 males I have are one father & two sons from diff litters.... from a female that someone didn't just drop off at our home but put her in our fenced in yard. We named her Sugar Pie and we did not have her fixed we had 4 litters of pups from her and the one male we had..... She passed away right after Ringo was weened.  I didn't know how old she was but I'm assuming she was pretty old and I felt so bad for her that we didn't take her to get her fixed.

I think we have a sign up that says "Bring your strays here".  With the exception of our two big boys outside (who were rescues) all of our little ones are related. Father, Mother, Sisters, Aunts, Uncles,Sons, Nieces, Nephews, etc.... LOL  Is that clear as mud???

Thanks for the idea on the Humane Society.  I am going to call them tomorrow.

I like the name Dixie!

Sounds like you have your hands full of canines.  I hope this works out for you.  We got our Black Lab from an unknown source.  She just kind of adopted us.  That was 7 years ago and I thank God everyday for her in our lives.
