It took an act of Congress but...
John was wounded in Vietnam on July 5, 1968. He was wounded again later. He never received his purple heart. About 10 years ago, we contacted the V.A. to attempt to get the Purple Heart.. However, he was ran around as normal. We contacted Congressman Mike Rogers and in less than a year, John received all of his medals, a beautiful certificate and FINALLY, after 40 and 1/2 years, John got his Purple Heart. I am so thankful that he finally got a little something from the two tours of combat. So many of those men are forgotten.
If you know a person in the military...tell them today that you appreciate them for being able to live in a free country. They are special people who deserve our gratitude.

Congratulations to John. I know you are proud of him. I do appreciate him and all the others who have served over the years so that we could have the freedom we have. My husband was in the military also. He did not recieve the Purple Heart during his time but some have said he deserved one later for being married to me. Love You, Miss Mary
