Explaining obesity to children

My 7yo loves to ask WHY.  Our latest series of questions have involved: Why are people fat? Why can't everyone get surgery to fix it? Why am I not fat but "friends name" is fat?

So I explain nutrition and exercise.  Then she comes back with, well "friends name" exercises and she is fat.
So I explain how "friends name" is that way because that is the way she was created using the example of "some are large, some are small, some are tall, etc.
Then she comes back with, "Why can't see just get surgery?"

Anyway, you can see where I am going with this.

What are some of the ways you would or have explained obesity to children?

I remember those days, why,why,why,lol.
I think you have made a good start, when she asks why her friend cannot have surgery, you could explan that children don't have wls, like they don't drive, its an adult thing
.Also talking to her about being kind to everyone would be a good thing, I know you probably do that anyway, but obese children usually have it extra hard.
Overall the idea that you explained to her, that people come in all shapes, sizes and colors is good.
By the way how old is she?
Have a good evening, Jan
