carb coma?

I ate some rice for lunch today and it almost knocked me OUT!  I was so darn sleepy I couldn't hold my head up!  And yesterday I had some noodles and I had to lay down and take a 2 hour nap?  Does anyone else do this?  And why?  Is it an overload to WLS patients when we have too many carbs or what?

exactly!  since i had this surgery, i have had a hard time with noodles rice potatoes and corn.  even if i eat corn chips or tortillas, i get so sick i want to go to bed

Me, too!  Carbs put me in a somnolent stupor!  I have talked to others that have the same reaction and till others that are fine with the carbs.  My DR and nutritionist both stressed eating protein first!  Sometimes that is hard to do but they are right.  The protein doesn't affect me at all that way and I end up eating less carbs because I'm full.  But sometimes all I want is a little mashed potatoes or rice - you know, easy on the stomach.  One day I'll learn. 

The other big problem I have is NOT drinking with my meals.

I've done the same thing...soooooooooooo sleepy I cannot carry on a conversation!!!!

I'm right there with you honey!! Too many carbs kick my butt!! I have sat down on the sofa only to wake up 2 - 3 hours later. It hits all of a sudden and there is not anything I can do to stay awake. Milder forms of carb coma just make me sleepy as all get out, continiuos yawning, can't think straight etc. It really is kind of scary. I am on the raod a lot with my job and I worry about what if it happens while driving. I pretty well know the trigger foods now but sometimes something slips up on me.  I am making a effort to avoid most carbs, trying ot get back to the basics in order to reach my goal.
