I saw Paula Deen cook these yesterday.  They sure did look good.  She also deep fried a cake!! YES!  A cake!  The woman would deep fry an oldmobile if she could!  HAHA!

Deep Fried Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients
  • 1 (13-ounce) can jelly style cranberry sauce, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, divided
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup water
  • Oil, for frying
Directions

Lay the cranberry sauce rounds out in a single layer on a parchment paper-lined sheet pan and freeze for 4 hours or until solid.

In a shallow bowl, place one cup of the flour. In another shallow bowl combine the remaining cup of flour with the sugar, salt, and baking powder. Pour in the water and stir together until smooth. Let the batter rest for 15 minutes.

Heat the oil in a deep-fryer or large Dutch oven to 375 degrees F.

Dredge the frozen cranberry sauce rounds in the flour. Then dip rounds in the batter and gently place in the oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

Good Morning Randall, dont you just love that Paula Dean??you right she will fry just about anything..If she dont fry it she puts enough butter in it to make it taste good enough to eat.I would love to be on the cooks show and just save all the food they dont use.they leave enough stuff in their bowls to make another dish with..

Oh well, til the next time Have a wonderful day..Juju
