Interesting Weekend

My conference was really very good.  I am sorry that I didn't get to meet any of the Huntsville folks.  This year there were more programs on eating disorders than ever before.  I did one on Counseling Following Weight Loss Surgery.  It was well attended.  I was surprised by the number of people who showed up that had had WLS.  There is so little research out there and the need is very great for counselors to know how to work with WLS patients, who may have adjustments to the surgery.  Support seems to be one of the most important aspects of adjustment to WLS post surgery.

Seems that this board forgot this weekend that their purpose is to encourage others and to provide information about WLS to help others either make their decision or to understand what is happening to them.  Seems that what went on here is most appropriate for the Rant and Rave board or the Sex board.  Perhaps if so many find the Spiritual aspects offensive, then perhaps there needs to be a special topic board for spiritual issues.  It is true that sometimes it does appear that spiritual issues receive more emphasis than what is supposed to be our common ground....Weight Loss Surgery.

Please remember that there is a reason why we have PM on this board and that some messages really should be private and remain private.

I have noticed an abundance of "No No" recipes on here also. I wish there were more healthy, lowfat recipes posted. Thanks for mentioning it. I have not, but since you brought it up....Where have all the healthy recipes gone?

You have been very busy this weekend.  As usual, you may be a bit brisk, but not entirely inappropriate in your views.  The board does seem to have lost its focus for a while.    As always, you have a rather interesting way of redirecting the board.

While I find you entertaining, some people cannot see through the protective shield that you throw up and glimpse the concerned person that you are.  I have seen you on other boards, and found that you are much more protective of the same people that you take to task every once in a while.

You remind me of a cousin that I have.  I often tell her that she struggles very hard to not be in the mainstream of life.  She is a very active Church of Christ and a nudist.  Somehow she reconciles the cognitive dissonance.  I see you much the same way.  You are often critical and challenge people's thinking, but not nearly as out of the mainstream as you pretend.

Hey Karla. Very well said. I got to have lunch with a very special lady today that we are friends with. Wish you could have been there. We did talk about and it was all good.

Glad you had a great lunch.  I was home today getting the laundry done from the conference.  I have to work tomorrow and drive to B'ham to the Dr.   I am getting shots in my left knee so I won't have to have a knee replacement just yet.  It seems to be working.  Tomorrow is the last of the three shots for six months.

Karla

It is so important for people who are currently in counseling continue counseling after WLS.
The problems are not "fixed" just because you had WLS.
Also, as you may know, they can sabotage their own success not even meaning to.

I am glad that you had a great conference this weekend!
