Ok people.  I really need some advice.  I had surgery on August 22, and I already planned to work on Thanksgiving (so I can avoid eating all that food): But it has come to my attention that I have 2 family get togethers around Christmas and 6 kids birthdays parties to get through in December.  At least, I know I can get through one party, because it's my childs and I can decide what they eat.  Although, I would like some advice on how to handle the other sistuations.  Should I just carry snacks with me that I know I can eat?  Or is that rude?  PLEASE let me know.

I don't think it is at all rude to carry your own snacks!  Make sure you eat before you go to any party so you won't be tempted too badly.  Carry your water with yoiu - at this point you are probably still sipping all day, right?  If anyone asks, tell them the truth!  I have had many well meaning friends say, "oh, but you have to try just one bite of this!  Mother worked SO hard on it!"  I got really irritated with one friend that kept trying to push food on me at a gathering that I said, "Look, if I eat that, you will see it again - all over your floor!"  She left me alone after that!!!

Good luck!

Hey Girl!

My plan is to start with my protein...eat the meat first.  Then move on to the veggies and "if" there is room, then the carbs/starches.  It's the holiday's so don;t deprive yourself.  Just know your limits and exercise moderation.  I know you are sensitive to dumping on sugar so you won't touch any desserts no matter how tempting.  You'll do fine.  Just tell people that you know what you can and can't eat and to leave you alone.  I think carrying some things with you is a good idea too...something you KNOW you can have.  That's not rude at all, it's practical.

carry your own stuff.  if someone says something tell them its either that or you will dump right in the middle of their floor.  since nonwls dont know the meaning of dump, they will not question it but rather leave you alone and let you eat your own stuff.
