I was watching Fox News the other night and saw something about a big todo over the word and celebration of Christmas. I had to change the channels because I was getting so mad!!! Ok, angry for those of you who know that mad is something that happens to dogs when they go off the deep end. Anyway, I was upset to say the least. I love Christmas and not for gifts or time off work but because it is a part of my heritage and I have the right to believe in Christ and Christmas. Don't anyone dare try to take that away from me. We stayed silent while we watched prayers being taken out of the classroom and then the pledge of allegiance had to go through grief. The word God is no longer welcome by our government, a government that was built upon His very name. What has happened? Why do we sit back and watch this. We seem to be the silent minority now. How did this happen? I want to be able to see my grandchildren proud of the fact that they are Christians and not be ashamed or have to hide it because of redicule or worse. Today, I take my stand and proudly declare that I am a child of God and I will not put Him in a closet or hide Him behind my back. Who will join with me??
I'm celebrating Christmas but first off, I'm celebrating CHRIST.
It's your right to disagree because I know that not everyone shares my belief but I'm hoping there are enough of us that DO believe and let's become a beacon instead of a flickering candle!!!
Loving you,
DebbieDoo

Over 4 million people know HIS name: JESUS
That says it all.. Christians or not. They KNOW!
50 years from now we won't be remembered.. No one will be calling my name..
but JESUS, OH, Jesus!
They will still be celebrating his birth!

Well GLORY, Debbie!!!!! I am listening to the cd that Jimmy and Debbie made and the song playing as I read your post was "My House is Full". WOW...God is trying to tell us something...me mostly. I am a Christian and so thankful to Jesus Christ for His total sacrifice for me. While I appreciate and respect others views and beliefs, I will stick with my Savior and adore Him on the day that is set aside to honor His birth. I love you and I sticking with you!!!
Hi Debbie Doo!
We celebrate Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany! And, we also acknowledge Hannukah,St. Nicholas Feast day, and Our Lady of Guadelaupe.
Each week, starting next week, we will light the Advent candles and talk about what each candle means-all in preparation of the celebration of the birth of Christ. Then Christmas eve, Sydney is singing in the children's Mass then we will celebrate with our families. That night, we place the Baby Jesus in the Manger in our Creche. Then, when everyone has placed their Creches back in storage for next Christmas, we celebrate the arrival of the Magi (Epiphany) and place the Wise men there on January 6th. I usually make a King Cake. We leave it up until Fat Tuesday or Ash Wednesday.
We also celebrate Hannukah by lighting the menorah and talk about the Maccabean war and the importance of tradition. I also teach the girls about the Passover each year. It helps me to understand the role of Jesus as man and fullfillment of his prophecy. Dec. 6th, we celebrate St. Nicholas Feast day . Traditional this day, I will take the girls to see him at the Mall and give that "Santa" a card. I also explain his role and generousity to the girls. We also give surprise gifts to a couple of their friends and others. St. Nicholas was known for his surprises!
And finally, we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadelaupe on December the 12th. Our church does a beautiful presentation and this year, the girls are going to be in the processional into the church. If you have ever read the story of OLG, it is a great one!
So the life and arrival of Christ and his teachings is celebrated way before Dec. 25th in our house, way beyond that day too!

ps-We also make a Birthday Cake and sing on Christmas day!
