1 turkey (12 pounds more or less)
1 stick salted butter(softened
2 tablespoons salt
2 teaspoon pepper
2 stalks celery, curt in lengths to fit inside turkey cavity
1 medium Vidalia onion, cut in half
1 large carrot
2 cups boiling water
Preheat oven to 500 degrees. Yes, 500 degrees.
Rub the butter on the outside and in the cavity of the turkey. Sprinkle salt and pepper on inside and outside of the turkey
Put the celery, onions, and carrot in the cavity. Place turkey breast side up in a roasting pan. (If you don't have a roasting pan with a tight lid, WalMart has them for $9)
Pour boiling water in pan. Cover with tight fitting lid and place in preheated oven.
Let oven return to 500 (temperture will drop a few degrees when the oven door is opened)
Bake for exactly 1 hour and then turn off oven. Do not open the oven door. Leave the turkey in the oven until the oven cools. This may take 4-6 hours. Reserve the pan juices and refrigerate the turkey if it will not be served soon after roasting.

I cooked a turkey today using this method it turned out good. And it sure was easy, No muss no fuss. I'm having turkey tonight. So is my son and his wife and my best friend and her husband and the older couple down the road. I will probably eat turkey for the next week. Love, Miss Mary

Sounds interesting, but you know what Vicki says Maxine says, one undercooked turkey and you become the rolls/tea bringer, LOL

It was interesting as an experiment. I still like the brown-n-bag method better. At our church I am the roll/soda bringer, they don't even trust me to make tea. I'm simply not a good cook. Love, Miss Mary
