Do we have any COUPLES that have done WLS together?

Hubby and I want to have the surgery the same day.  We are having Realize-Band surgery in early 2009.  Since we live 90 miles from Dr. Miles and his office, we will both have to take time off for office visits, re-fills, etc.  We think having the same day surgery will allow us to travel to B'ham together for all of our appointments. 

Has anyone else done this as a couple?  Would you recommend it?

I'm in Prattville!  My husband and I had RNY 2 weeks apart in 2006.  It was the best decision we could have made.  I don't think we would have done real well having it on the same day, just with the recovery and soreness.  We had our surgeries done in Birmingham and the trip home was a nightmare, because we were so sore.  Dr. Dewitt allowed us to get on the same schedule with appointments and such.  I'm sure your doctor would too.  Unless you have someone that can stay with both of you in the hospital, drive you home (we couldn't drive for a week or so) and help you get settled, I'd suggest doing it a few weeks apart.

Goodness!  We are just about neighbors!!!  Thanks for your reply.  We will have our adult daughter with us at the out patient surgery to do the driving AND she will stay with us for the first 48 hours...or longer if needed.

Is there a support group in our area????

There is one at the Doster Center here in Prattville.  I BELIEVE it's the first Monday of the month.  I'm not 100% sure.  I know Dr. Mora is a big sponsor of it.  I have heard good things about it, though I have never been.
