are bought for the kids and hubby....I'm so excited to have THAT out of the way.  I got them neccessities....bath wash, shaving cream,  shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, nail files, a few personal make up wants (blush, mascara, lip gloss, eye concealer, ect)  new hair brushes and combs, purse sized tissues, Q-tips, cotton balls.....and a few other odds and ends.  It's stuff they all need so I thought it was a good idea....what do ya'll think?  Any other "little" suggestions???

That sounds like mine.  I always put a large peppermint stick in each one and  an orange in the toe.  Momma always put an orange in the toe of my stocking with an apple and some nuts.  I usually got a tangerine too. (That was a treat.)  We got nuts, fruit and candy canes in our stockings when I was a kid.  I was not going to do stockings this year because I have to make 14, but Geni said she had rather have her stocking than presents...so I caved in

Oh that brings back memories.  I always got a tangerine or orange in mine too, with nuts and a candy cane.    I think I will get one of those candy cane plastic things filled with m&m's for Christian's.  I know his other grandparents will get him a stocking, but he's getting one at our house too.  Santa will just have to visit here too.  I'm not getting him much cause he will have so much stuff by the time all his grandparents and great grandparents buy for him.  He's one luck kid.  ALL GREAT grands are still living.  I only knew one of mine and she died when I was 5, but I still remember my Little Granny!    She was a short and tiny little woman....too bad I didn't take after her.  She was a doll.  I have a great aunt that looks just like her.  She's actually my Great grandmother's daughter.

I'm really trying to figure out what else I can put in the guy's stockings.  Something useful.......any ideas??

what about flashlights? That's something that you always need and never seem to find! Also is there a food or something they like to eat a lot? Maybe make something like that and wrap it up?

I make a chili popcorn topping that several folks like. So I make it in a large batch and pour into small shakers and tie it to a box of microwave popcorn. The mix is really really easy - chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper. No real measurements just mix until it looks right and adjust per your preferences.

That's really COOL ideas.  I love the popcorn and topping idea.  Where do you get the little shakers from?  I've got tons of ribbon around.  I might could even manage enough to do something like that up.  And the flashlights are a wonderful idea.  Thanks.  I hope to see more ideas coming.........

I go to the kitchen area at walmart and use salt or pepper shakers. If you are making a bigger container you can get one of the cheese shakers and use it. Just put a layer of wax paper under the lid to help keep is fresh.

Sure! For those who like sweet snacks I melt butter and add a little white and brown sugar and cinnamon. I add a mix of Chex cereal as well as nuts and then toast it in the oven for about 5 to 8 minutes. It gets crispy and very yummy. I them just put them in the small snack bags.

You can also make hot chocolate mix and put in small containers. If you go to www.allrecipes.com they have several there.
