From The Heart
When I discovered the wonderful world of marriage and motherhood I thought my life had become complete. THEN came grandkids. This weekend (although I have been the sickest I have been in a while) has shown me just how BLESSED I am to have these kids in my life to show me what true love is.
Our oldest grandson is a child that loves the computer or a book and wants to be peacemaker with his younger siblings. Our middle grandson is a rascal. He was born with a motor dysfunction that caused a speech impediment that led to behavior problems. He is an unusually brilliant child but at times is hard to reach. Our granddaughter is a tomboy in heels. She is the life of the room with a smile that can power Las Vegas.
This weekend it was cooler. The kids would end up in our bedroom where the computers are and the room was warmer. During the night I woke up to find all three kids had crawled into bed with us. They are 8,7 and 5. No biggie except we sleep in a full size bed and I am having rotator cuff problems. We scrunched up and loved every minute of it.
Saturday morning after the kids woke up we had "coffee" in bed. Hadden, the little kid with all the problems snuggled up to me with his worn out Target Toy catalog. He has hoarded that catalog and wished and looked and wanted with the heart of a child. He talked to me with PERFECT speech, pointing out each toy he would like and which his brother and sister would like. He put his arms around me with big brown eyes wide with wonder and talked for over an hour. He was cherishing the time with Grandma and Granddaddy but not as much as we were.
This might not mean much to any of you but to us it was a HUGE step. We felt like God had taken his hand and placed it on this special child and said "it is time". All our kids are special but Hadden is an extra special child. He has a problem that he has worked so hard to deal with at such a little age.
I am rambling because my heart is full this morning.
