They are changing job locations I know this weekend for sure. They really don't know , but on the postive side love the overtime ya know women love the extra cash flow

Nothing tastes as good as being thinner feels.

I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

Could you possibly work from home? A lot of larger companies will let you work from home. It's just a thought.  I hope something comes up for you.

well, i would have to find a job first. and that leads to another problem. i have to find another place to live by the end of 2008. my landlord wants us out because "my dog barks". not a nuisance bark or anything like that, just a regular old "hey, you're an intruder, my master isn't home so you best get ta steppin'" sort of bark whenever he see's a stranger. apparently this offends my landlord... so now, i have to figure out how i'm going to find a new place to live if i don't have a job. after all, what intelligent landlord is going to rent to somebody that isn't employed??

Amanda,
Have you checked some of the federal contractor websites?  There are from time to time good openings for graphic artists.  They pay is good and so are the benefits.  If you found something at Redstone, it wouldn't be that far of a move for you.

Pardon me for jumping in here. First of all you need to think of yourself. You can go to Monster.com and careerbuilder.com and try searching there. Get a good resume and think about making an electronic portfolio. that you can submit over the Internet if need be.  Next as long as your finding a place to live you are free to move. This is a great opportunity for you.  Involve your daughter in this also. She might be excited about  a new location. I'm probablky dreaming here though.

Economics call for tough decisions.

One last thing you can do is search in the general area. There might be a related career that pays more money.

Sorry for butting in.

i've already done the logical things (monster.com, careerbuilder.com, etc.) but there simply isn't anything around here for *me*. and as for moving, who's going to rent to someone who doesn't have a job? and who's going to give a job to someone who doesn't already live in the area? i'm not trying to shoot down your ideas because they were very good ones. but unfortunately, ones that i've already considered and taken advantage of. i need something different. something original. something that nobody has thought of or suggested yet.

Moving here two years ago was hard. We have no support system here, as far as family, etc. But even with the job uncertainty we are facing now, it was by far the best thing we could have ever done. We moved 250 miles away from our home in Tennessee.

Please don't sell yourself short by ruling out a move for the right job. Like Snickelfritz said, get that portfolio together and see what is out there. The world is waiting for you, Amanda. :)
