Symptoms of an ulcer after gastric bypass

In the last 4 days I have been experiencing a burning sensation in the middle of my chest down to my belly button. I called my Dr. today and was told I probably had an ulcer. He prescribed carafate and omeprazole. I had GERD before my surgery and really hate to think I have to take omeprazole again. I was told it would take 4-6 weeks to heal. Don't drink any caffine and don't be around anyone who smokes. It is really painful and it kills my appetite. The thought of eating is yucky.

If anyone else has any other suggestions on what or what not to do, please respond.

ugh, well i'm almost two years out. Seems like only went from 253 lbs down to my lowest weight which was 165 after surgery.

I used to weigh 115 before taking steriods for two years not being able to breathe. I just weighed my self and I am 190!! WTH.

I still can only eat 1 cup of food at a time. I eat VERY healthy, seriously no time to exercise though. I still use Isopure protein drinks, usually one a day, sometimes a protein bar a day, cheese, hb egg, some tuna or chix salad. piece of fruit or two a day, veggies usually in soup  with crackers. Whats up with this? SUCKS. I just noticed tummy and butt starting to protrode again. YIKES

Hang in there! Exercise is crucial, when i can't get to the gym or I'm pressed for time I do a burst workout, you can google it. It is very affordable and fun.

I am so glad there are support groups! I have been having horrible burning pain in my abdomen all the way to my lower back. I thought it would go away, thought it was the lemon I squeeze in my water (too much acid), but to no avail, even when I stop drinking that, it lingers. It has been two weeks. Ulcers? Can I take something over the counter?

Sincerely,

Nikki

I had ulcers before gastric bypass and this is similar... I have a call in to Dr. Dewitts office..

Its not really awful pain just gnawing... and when I eat or drink its worse.. (which made chelle think gallbladder).

I had acid reflux prior to surgery and it may just be that coming back.. although I have been told you are not supposed to be able to have acid reflux after gastric bypass...

As far as if I am on anything for it no not currently and maybe that is my problem.....

and HEY Carmen... maybe one day I will get to visit the site more.. I don't have internet at home... yeah I am so behind the times..
