HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY KARLA!

I just wanted to wish you a Happy Belated Birthday.  I am so sorry I forgot it Sunday.  Please forgive me.  We will celebrate soon.  I promise.

It is no biggy.  I was very tired on Sunday when my birthday was.  I went to the store and bought me a birthday cake and a couple of good books.  I read the books, ate a slice of cake.  I usually buy myself some flowers, but I got the most wonderful surprise this morning from my cousin, who was here on Saturday.  I got a beautiful bouquet. 

I was 60 on Sunday.  Yep, I was born on election day, 1948.  Harry S. Truman was elected President.   Elections are always special to me.  It was also my dad's first free vote, because he was 21 that year.  Most of you don't remember when people had to pay "poll tax."  You got to vote free the year you were 21, which was the first time then you could vote.

Well, you are a very young 60, if I've ever seen one.  Love the new hair color too.  I'm glad you got the flowers today.  I am just so sorry I didn't remember it.  I feel like a turd.

There is nothing to feel bad about.  I had a lovely day.  It was quiet and I was really tired.  If I had needed to be cheered up, I would have called you and asked you to do so.  I always ask for what I need....well, most of the time.

Thank you, I think when you work with young people you don't grow old as quickly.  We all talk about at school that we dress too young compared to our peers.  But we really do look frumpy on campus if we "dress our age."  I think in other places, the conservative clothes would be considered "professional" dress.  I have to have two wardrobes for work...those to teach in daily and those to be profressional.  The students are quick to tell you that you look like some "old lady" in that outfit.  It is amusing, because I am an old lady.
