To let y'all know...
You know Bobby and I have talked about doing the very same thing. We use our cell phone for all of our long distance calls and talk to others that is on verizon. But for the love of me I just can not have that land line d/c. How does it work with the cell phones for 911 calls to the home. I know that we have GPS on our cell phone, but will it take longer to find out your location? I think some of my not wanting to let go goes back to my POOR days when we could not afford a land line.
Well I just found out the answer to my question about calling 911. By law the phone system has to let you continue to call 911 from you home phone. So yes you can pick up your home phone and call and you can get help sooner than having to track down the pings from your cell phone. Thanks Kay for calling and telling me the answer.
We use our cell phones for everything and have for a while. The only reason we kept our land line was because we thought we had to have it for internet. However, John found out that we could keep the internet for $40.00 per month and then when he called, they told him if we would sign a one year contract it would be only $20.00 per month. So he did. I don't know about 911. I guess the GPS would locate us??
You better resend me your cell phone number, please!!!
Dale and I have been discussing it as several of our friends do that but I just can't do it yet
being Dakota is so young and when Dale and I go out, rarely, without Dakota, I am reasssured knowing there is a land line in the house for emergency reasons. If I knew emergency services could locate my house quickly, like Louise,, I just can't commit!
