Hello Everyone,

Those of you that have taken Lexapro, did you experience any side effects?  I am sleepy all the time.  It seems like I am constanting yawning.  I have been out of work since Wednesday trying adjust to the medicine.  I only take 10 mg.  That doens't seem like much, but my husband wanted me to be off work so I wouldn't have to drive.  I have driven since Wednesday.  My energy level is going down.  I can't motivated to do anything.  I know that has something to do with the depression also.  I wish my doctor would call me soon to let me know about my bloodwork.  I am trying to start a business, but I just can't get motivated.  I have a booth rental at local school carnival and I need to make my stuff for it.  Please say a prayer I will get enough energy to get my work done.

I am praying for every need.  I know God will take care of all of us.

Love to All,
Linda

Hi Linda.  I have not taken this medicine but Jimmy was prescribed this.  He could not take it.  He was so depressed he could not stand it.  He stopped it on his own.  Later the Dr. prescribed Zoloft and it has been fine.  It has really helped him.  But, I know other people who took the Lexapro and had no trouble at all.  If you continue to have problems you may want to see if the Dr. could try another medicine.

Hey Linda,

Good to see you around, sorry its regardingthis issue.  I once took Lexapro and I couln't keep my eyes open.  The Dr ended up taking me off of it bcuz even though it may seem like a small amount of med, it can be too strong for your person.  Everyone has such a different reaction to meds.  I would contact the Dr.  Be careful hun and I will be keeping you in my prayers.

Good luck with your Lexapro. I dont know if it made me tired or not since I am in a constant state of sleep deprivation as it is. I did have side effects and my doctor kept saying give it more time to let my body adjust. I hope you find the right med to make you feel better.

I used to take it a long time ago.  My dr started me out on 5mg, then progressed to 10.  Even on 5mg, I remember being extremely sleepy all the time...but it only lasted about 2 weeks.  After that, I was fine, no side effects at all.  I guess my body had to adjust to it.  I ended up taking it for about a year following my last divorce.

I've been on 20mg Lexapro for over two years now and have not experienced any fatigue or sleepiness.  As a matter of fact, I have to take something to help me sleep.  These types of medications can work differently on different people.  Your best bet is to give it a couple of more days and if you don't get used to it, let your doctor know and maybe try something else.  But it has worked wonderfully for me.

Linda:

I took lexapro and didn;t really have any ill effects.  Insurance wanted me on another drug that did not work for me and my dr then gave me cymbalta, which I love! Works great and has the advantageof also helping with joint aches and pains.
