Stepping Down

This is the e-mail I sent to everyone on our e-mail list for the support group.

Hi everyone,

Due to personal conflicts I am stepping down as leader of the A SlimChance Support group at the Providence Hospital.  My Co-leader Sandy is not able to step up and take over at this time either.  The last few meetings there were only 3 or maybe 4 people there excluding spouses or other family members.    I don't feel like there is that much of an interest and with my life the way it is now, I have other priorities that I MUST take care of.    If anyone is interested in taking it one for a while, I'm not sure what the future holds.  We are scheduled for the Marilac room through November and the big room where we had our Christmas part has been scheduled for us too.  Sandy took care of those arrangements.  If you are interested in keeping things going and taking this on, please e-mail me at [email protected] or sandy at [email protected].   I wish all of you luck in your future with your weight loss issues and your health.  I will miss you all, so if anyone would like to plan get togethers every once in a while, let us know.

Thanks for the offer that everyone is welcome at your group and thanks for the prayers.  That is what I need the most.  I know how important support is and that is why I have done this for so long.  At this time, I can't be there for others because I have to take care of me.  As far as Christmas goes, I can't even think about that right now.  We have a little while before decisions have to be made.  I may be in a better place by then and have a Christmas party, but we'll see.  I know you will be planning one for your group so don't try to get yourself too overextended.

Praying for your grandmother.  Glad they were able to get the port in.  Cancer is a terrible disease and I know about the suffering that goes along with it.  I pray that God will confort her and take away her pain.

Talk to you soon...

I hate your having to give up your support group work, but sometimes these things are necessary.  Hopefully someone will step up and take it over!  ((Connie))

Hi Kay,

It is sooooo good to see your beautiful face again.  How is Tara doing?

Thank you so much for your support and especially the prayers.  When Sandy and I took this group on, it was dying and the original leaders were stepping down because no one was coming.  For some reason, people in our area just don't come.  When we were meeting once a month for dinners at restaurants we had a much better turn out.  Everyone who comes to the meeting...or at least most of them have to travel some distance and I think the price of gas has affected everyone.  With my full time job, three grandsons, a husband, and alot of stuff going on in my life, the stress is starting to get to me and I have begun to stress eat and I have got to do what is best for me and get my life under control.  I can't help others until I can help myself.  And when they don't seem that interested anyway, it makes it more difficult.  I spent alot of time and preparation for meetings.

I sure did need a hug.  There is this woman who has been coming in our office and taking courses through our office for aboaut 20 years...she is suffering from scitzophrenia (sp!!!) and she is so sweet and she loves to get her hugs when she is there.  She has always said that hugs are great because you can't give one without receiving one...so (((Kay))) Hugs back to you.  Take care!
