What's for DINNER tonight??
Thanks for asking. I am SORE but nothing that I did not expect. Well...it may be a little more than I thought, but I should have know when the Surgeon asked me before he began if I had already picked up my pain meds and antibiotics. I asked him if that was my warning that I was going to need the pain meds and he told me that I should expect a good bit of pain the first couple of days.
I **Think** the procedure went well. After the nitrous/oxygen mix and then the IV meds, I recall very little of what he was actually doing. He did tell me after I was awake and a little more alert that the infection in the bone was more than he expected but that he got it all out. He said that from the appearance of it, this thing had been a problem for some time now. (I knew that--but did not have any idea bone was involved until he told me that last week when he did X-Rays)
Mom stopped at Sonic on the way home and got me a slush--took a pain pill then, and came home and went back to bed. I slept about four hours and when I woke up--it was then that I felt the pain! He had numbed everything up in addition to the IV meds--and when I woke up, the IV Meds had worn off, the numbness had worn off and the pain pill had worn off! IT HURT! So, I have redosed on the pain pill and Phenergan, had some mashed potatoes and jello and getting in lots of liquids.
The pain meds have kicked in again and the pain has eased up for now. I am going to try to go back to sleep and rest while I can.
Oh well...as usual, the pain meds don't make me sleep...they actually have a reverse effect and I will ramble all night long--that is why we add the Phenergan.
I have said enough for now...my head is spinning and I really should try to close my eyes and rest while I can.
You take care and I am sure I will come back and catch up on the board in between my cat naps this evening.
Thanks again.

Actually, I think that Drug Menu has something to do with the feeling I have that my tool bar has some kind of horizontal movement to it!

Good thing I planned to be off work today and tomorrow!
And wierd as it sounds....Even as sore as my mouth is right now, I do feel like the "tooth" itself probably does feel better. I guess I will know more about that over the next day or two.
Thanks for the smile Karen.

The dentist did the 'last' procedure in hopes to try to save the tooth?

The drugs are working....I am not sure what you are asking. The procedure that the oral surgeon did today was and Apicoectomy---the tooth had previously had two root canals and two crowns--the last of which was done about 3 years ago...I don't remember exactly when.
This tooth has abcessed multiple times over the years.
Is that what you were asking? If not, try again and I will see if I understand your question any better.

OK--I am still just rambling. I will be like this as long as I am taking pain meds....they just make me crazy. (Even crazier than normal!)
Hope your mind slows down some too and that you are feeling better.

You have to have sleep to function. You can only go for so long on little bits of sleep!
Have you tried something like Tylenol PM (Benadryl) or
Phenergan to sleep? Although Phenergan is not labeled for use as a sleep medication--it does the trick for me.
I can usually take 1/2 of a 25mg Phenergan and will be out for hours.....now this evening I have had the whole 25mg and am still going strong, but that is because of the pain meds. I will take another 1/2 of a Phenergan shortly and hopefully even with pain meds, it will make me sleep for a while tonight.
Good Luck!
