Got my surgery date
Girl, you are Elle's new best friend!!! She does not look old enough to have a grand baby. I will let her tell you have far out she is. I am 4 1/2 years out. I lost 111 pounds and the most challenging is right now. I can eat anything I want and old habits are still here. Use your early months to change your eating habits. Good luck and we are so glad to welcome you on the Bama Board!!!
Oh yes, I'm plenty OLD enough to be a grandmother. I even had my own kids starting at 26. They are almost 18 and almost 21 now. So, you see.... I AM OLD and starting to feel every bit of it too. Surgery has been the most wonderful thing for me. I was 6 years post op August 8th and have done well ever since. The most challenging time is NOW. It's so HARD to control bad habits. The first 2-5 years was a breeze. I'm still doing well, but it's just HARDER than ever to keep the weight off. Just know that I mean it when I say, " I would do this again in a heartbeat". I've been given a new lease on life. God has been with me all the way. Thank you so much for the sweet sweet compliment, and YES......YOU ARE MY NEW BEST FRIEND for that COMPLIMENT! :)
Welcome to the Bama Board!! CONGRATS on your surgery date!! I had RNY 2 years ago..this surgery saved my life. My words of wisdom is to follow your surgeons instructions, & get involved with a support group. If you have any more questions ..please let us know.

Hi and welcome!
I am far from newly post op but will pass along the following...
Take plenty of photos along the way and take your measurements as well. This will come in handy when you have a stall on the scales. Document, document, document.
Get in touch with a counselor and work on food issues while you are losing. The longer post op you are, the harder it is to maintain without bad habits being under control.
Remember that you did not put all your weight on overnight so don't think you are going to lose it overnight either. The first year is the best time for weight loss but it's hard for new post ops to see it.
The first 3 months after your surgery you will be wondering if you made the right choice because things are different and you are unsure. You might even think "What the hell did I do to myself."
Months 3-6: getting better and you are starting to see the difference in yourself and becoming a little more excited about your new life.
Anything after 6 months, you are an old pro!![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/thumbsup2.gif)
The number one piece of advice I recommend is keeping a daily food diary and weighing everyday. Stepping on the scales daily keeps your accountable.
Congrats to you and feel free to post anytime with questions. That is what we are all here for.
