OT: Veggie Soup Recipe???
1 qt. canned tomatoes
1 lb. ground beef
2 lg. potatoes, diced
1 Sm. onion, chopped
1 stick butter
Salt and pepper to taste
1 lg. can Veg-All
1 Sm. can Lima beans
1 cup macaroni
1 lb. ground beef
2 lg. potatoes, diced
1 Sm. onion, chopped
1 stick butter
Salt and pepper to taste
1 lg. can Veg-All
1 Sm. can Lima beans
1 cup macaroni
Brown hamburger meat on stove top and place in crock pot. Add tomatoes and all other ingredients. Cook all day long on low. Cook macaroni separate then add to crock pot 30 min before you serve
This is the recipe I use:
Vegetable Soup
2 cans veg-all (drained)
1 medium sweet onion, diced
1 can chopped tomatoes
1 can tomato sauce
1 lb ground beef
1 -2 beef bullion cubes or 1tbsp beef baste
salt and pepper to taste ( light on the salt due to the bullion)
elbow macaroni (opt), cook, drain and place in frig.
1/2 small bag of frozen sliced okra (opt)
Brown beef and onion, drain and rinse. Drain veg-all. Add all ingredients to the crock pot. Cook on low all day. About 1 hour before serving, add frozen okra and pasta, turning heat to high for remaining hour.
When I have added the uncooked pasta in the mornings it is too done for my liking by the afternoon. Tends to be too soft.

My recipe is pretty much the same..but you gotta hold your mouth right!! LOL!!
My grandmomma made the very best homemade veggie soup on this planet. My mom used to get mad when I told her hers was not the same.
But here is a trick you may not know..Boil your ground beef in water..then drain in a colander and rinse. You get most of the fat off that way!!

I use the beef stew cuts of meat...beef cubes, a can of tomatoes (diced), potatoes, carrots, onions, and green peas, salt and pepper. You can add all kinds of other stuff like shredded cabbage, macaroni, rice, corn (but corn gives it a sweet taste), Just whatever you have...that is the beauty of veggie soup. But I always start with the first 6 ingredients....and may or may not add anything else....depends on who is eating it.
You can also add pace picante sauce in place of the can of tomatoes....however, you have to like a southwestern flavor for that.
