I come from country folks that cooked simple foods.  One of our favorite meals is homemade biscuits with tomato gravy and deer sausage.  We also like smother fried squirrel in gravy and biscuits.

What are some of your favorites?

We love country cooking also.  I guess my alltime favorite is fried chicken.  It always has been.  Fried foods don't bother me at all.  As a matter of fact NOTHING bothers me!!!  That is my problem!!!

No I could not get it to work.  I did save it to my documents but when I opened the file it was just jumble.  I did not want to bother you.

Mater Gravy!!! OH.. I love my mominlaws mater gravy!!! I haven't had some in like FOREVER!!!

I also loved my Grandmother's Turnip Greens, fried corn, fresh maters out of the garden and some good ole homemade Chow Chow!!!!

I grew up on a farm and we had a 10+ acre garden.. and we also raised our own beef cattle.
I miss those days.. hard work but worth every bit of it!
From apples in the orchard, to strawberry season, peanuts, pototoes..
Man if my kids had to do that work!!!
Now I remember why I was skinny growing up - They had Free labor!!! lol

Can't say that I have eaten squirrel or even deer, but I love some greens-n-beans.  In fact, I cook a pot of each at least once a week. My girls love it.

ps-tell my Southern Fisherman that this mom owes him a basket of maters for that gravy!!!

You can't beat a bowl of homemade vegetable soup and corn bread hot from the oven. Or a glass of ice cold buttermilk and crisp hot cornbread. I've got to stop, I'm making myself hungry. Love, Miss Mary

Oh yum, we ate (and still do) smothered rabbit cooked long and slow with lots of garlic and onions.  On the side was a dish of white beans, and beets as a veggie!!!  We had braised deer steaks for dinner last night.
