Loving my fresh ground COFFEE~~~
Ya'll were all right when you said there was nothing better than FRESH GROUND COFFEE~! I can't believe the difference in the taste. It's wonderful. I can't to try some different kinds. DH doesn't like flavored coffees, but there are different kinds I would like to try that aren't flavored. I'm really wanting to try some Kona. What can any of you tell me about Kona coffee? Any others you'd like to recommend?
I love FRESH GROUND COFFEE! What a difference HUH??
I like to find different ones (ones on sale at Starbucks as their choice of the month, ect.)
and try them.
Our church is opening a coffee shop in a few weeks. We just completed building it.
We will have a coffee with a Mission each month! I am so excited about that!! So I will be trying flavors all of the world and ones that actually go for a MISSION!!!
Next time you are down here you will have to have coffee with me! I would sure enjoy that!!!!

Real Kona is $15 dollars or more a pound...the rest is blended with other coffees. You have to have real Kona shipped from Hawaii or find a place that has shipped it in. The grocery stores use a blended kind. Philip brought some from Hawaii several years ago. It is strong and taste like coffee...maybe a little more acid.
Gevelia is really about the only one that I can tell the difference, no matter what kind you buy, it is always mild. I do like French Market or Cafe du Mond ....but those have chicory...and it just takes the acidity out. I find Starbuck's coffee tastes like dirt to me...real mud...black land kind. I drink mine black so I can really taste the difference in the different blends, brands, etc. What I think you notice is the degree of acid in the coffee and the roasting most. Not many of the coffees that are served in coffee shops are meant to be drank black, so they are brewed to be very bitter.
If you get some Kona, use distilled or filtered water when you brew it, so you can really taste the difference. You may want to have another kind...like Folger's or Maryland Club brewed with filtered water to compare...use equal measures of each so you can see how they compare. You are supposed to use filtered or distilled water for coffee to get a pure flavor....however, most people are not that much of purists. It also makes a difference whether you press it, drip it, perk it, or boil it. All of those things affect taste...and people differ by preferences.
I think I have a little package of Kona here....if you want to try it. I like Gevelia best...but that is just me and I like a dark, uncloudy, black coffee...the kind you can serve in a clear cup. Good coffee, not matter how strong it is, you should be able to see the bottom of the cup or through it in a clear cup.
Now, you have way too much information about coffee. But, you can use this knowledge to become a real coffee snob...heeheeheehee
