For the past week now, Ive been waking up around 4:15 to 4:30 a.m. having stomach discomfort.  Then having to hit the bathroom with unpleasant issues, (if you know what I mean?) Anyhow, has anyone had this problem or expierence?  I'm only 6 1/2 month out from RNY.

Best I can tell you is - it (well, literally **it)  happens, LOL.  You are still a little early out, so things should get into a better routine.    Be thankful it happens at home - I've had it happen while on the road, and I've had to race to find a bathroom!

lol Thanks Lisa for your response.  I am thankful for the time it hits, which is in the A.M. hours and being at home, but thing is, After a whole week of this, It's got me a little worried that something could be wrong.  I've done really good since my surgery until now.

I've been waking up in the middle of the night with the same thing too.  Figured it must have been something I was eating too close to bed time.  Maybe it's just one of those things that just happens.

BTW, you're looking great!  Your new pict really shows the weight loss in your face.

You have had major major surgery and you have completely changed the way your body processes food.  It takes time for the body to make the adjustment.   Be glad you are at home.  I had two "accidents" during my first six months when I couldn't get to the bathroom.  Be patient and this will probably go away.  Also during my first six months I had the opposite and had to go to the ER where the nurse told my wife I would have ruptured before I passed the matter, TMI.   I take stool softeners on a routine basis now.

I still have occasional "quick step" problems.  They are usually caused by me eating too many sweets.  If you can tolerate sweets and then overeat, you will get a great laxative effect, sleepy, sick (dumping), all three, or a combination of two for the things mentioned.  To me dumping feels like a heart attack but it goes away in fifteen to twenty minutes and then its followed by a restful sleep.
