Times are tough..

I havent been on much lately. I posted some, then seemingly disappeared so I just wanted to touch base with ya.

Times are tough. I have my hands full with being a full time mom to a kindergartner. I know I'm not the first person to have a five year old in the house but Ryan has some issues and we are still trying to get to the root of these things.

My mom saw the Lou Gehrig Disease specialist at the Kirklin Clinic and things are worse than we previously thought. She has Bulbar Palsy. This is where the nerves that operate the face, neck, and throat die. There is NO treatment for this disorder and life expectancy is shorter than with typical Lou Gehrig's. Death usually occurs because of choking or because of pneumonia that results from aspirating food or liquid into the lungs. (She does choke quiet frequently but is presently able to chew and swallow. She chokes on "air", not necessarily on "stuff", so she is holding off on the feeding tube for now). Most people live between 6 months and three years. She has already past 6 months so every day is a gift from God.

Ryan is growling .. I guess I'd better go calm him down.
