Gastroenterologist in my future...

I have been having some pain in my chest for the past 2 weeks (left side) right where my pouch is so I called my PCP yesterday when I started having a metallic / blood like taste in the back of my throat. Anyway, being they couldn't get me in until December (yes, that is another issue in itself) they told me I needed to go to the ER immediately.

So, off I go...

2 EKG's later and 6 blood vials later I am being referred to a gastroenterologist...

I was given a Protonix IV and an MVD ****tail to ease Reflux/Ulcer. I tell you what if reflux is this painful then I am just doomed. Anyway, being the ****tail just worked for a little bit the ER doc says I need to be scoped to find out what is going on. I have major pain under my left breast and it only feels good when I am sitting up straight to the point I look like a dork. He prescribed  Protonix and Donnatal.

The ER doc was concerned about my heart because I had an elevated blood level that indicated heart disease. But because I am so young and somewhat healthy he did another EKG and more blood work. The 2nd blood work was in the normal range so he relaxed and told me to follow up with my PCP and to make sure she does a stress test. I tell you it scared me at first but he was quick to reassure me to lets do more blood work.

On July 3 of this year I was at the ER in Nebraska with chest pains in the same place that turned out to be Pluerisy. The doc gave me 2 steroid shots (one fast acting, the second long lasting) and when I woke up the next day I felt like a million bucks.

Ok, I am rambling now so I will shut up...if you will pray and cross you fingers for me that this is figured out. I am sure it might take awhile but I am uncomfortable and gaining/losing weight drastically from one day to the next. I can fluctuate 11 pounds in a few days. It's odd! I am bloated in the evening and fine in the morning.  I am getting to the point where I dont want to eat (I am sure many of you are saying...and that's a problem! LOL.) Anyway, if you would keep me in your prayers I would really appreciate it.

Hugs~

Gail,

Last month I was having chest pain & pressure. It was miss diagnosed as Bronchitis at first, which I did have, but when my lungs cleared up, I was still hurting. I ended up at a cardiologist. My heart was fine, so on to Dr. Dewitt (weight loss surgeon), more blood work. He diagnosed it as excess fluid, took me off all my asthma/sinus steroid meds & sent me back to my PCP. She put me on additional lasics & I lost 14 pounds over 1 weekend & feel much better. I have lost a total of 24 pounds since then.

Maybe they will find someting easy to treat.

Prayers,

Lisa Gotro
