It's taken me a few hours now to absorb the possibility that I just may have been approved - and on the first try, at that.
So, I called Aetna last week to ask if they had received all of my info from Dr. T's office and they had. During this phone call, they also told me that it is currently taking between 6 to 12 WEEKS to issue approvals or denials for WLS!
Not to be discouraged, I called again today, asking (as if I didn't know) if they had gotten my paperwork. At first, the rep couldn't find anything - which set off a slight wave of panic in me - before saying "Oh, yes, here it is. Let me check something." The seconds seemed to drag by, and then she was back saying, "Yes, I found your info and the authorization." I could barely choke out my thanks as I asked her for that pre-authorization reference number.
Still in shock, I called back again (I know! LOL) and spoke to another rep,who confirmed that my reference number was for the procedural code of the RNY.
I am feeling thrilled beyond belief, but I am trying to contain it until I get the official letter in my hot little hands. LOL It should be here tomorrow.

Thanks so much, ya'll! I 'm just trying to take it all in. When the initial rep (Doris, and I don't think i will ever forget her name) told me she had a pre-auth number, I couldn't help but get choked up.
This is something I have hoped and prayed for, for so long, that it almost felt like I had been holding my breath this whole time and could finally breathe!
I just want to say thanks for all the prayers and encouraging words that everyone has had for me. Sometimes it is hard for me to express my feelings here, but it has all meant more than anyone knows.
