I"m 9 weeks post op & I have had 3 EGD porcedures done  in the last 5 weeks. I was told that II have an  esophageal stricture. I have not been able to eat solid foods very much in the post op world. I'm now facing this EGD for a fourth time.. I feel okay with soft foods but feel best when I stop eating . My Dr. is afraid that if he open the esophagas too much  it might stop my weight loss . I that case I fear I will spend the rest of my life eating mush.  . PLEASE!!! someone tell me this will get better !

Hi,

So sorry that you are going through this.  Can't really address this because I haven't had a stricture.  However, I want you to know that support is here and someone cares.

Thanks, I sure I'm not the only one that's had this trouble.  I knew this surgery was not going to be easy & I hope this time will fix it. However, I refuse to give-up.  I hold on to the belief that end result will cause me look back at the hard times & rejoice. I promise to keep you posted

Thanks For Caring

Thanks, I'm sure that I'm not the only one that's had this problem. I knew that this surgery was not going to be easy. However I refuse to give up. I continue to hold on & believe that the end result will out weigh the rough times. That keeps sane through it all. I promise to keep you posted.

Thanks For Caring

Relax...I know that is easier said than done.  I had four EGD's and the fourth was the charm.  I had my first one at about 12 weeks out.  It had gotten to the size of a pin point by time I called my doctor  I know that was crazy to wait that long.

IT WILL GET BETTER.  My doctor (GI DR) did put me on Prilosec after the third one.  At one of our support group meetings I remember talking to a bariatric nurse who was from Birmingham I think and she said their doctor was putting patients on Priolosec type medications immediately after WLS and the occurence of strictures had dropped alot.  I don't remember what her name was or who the doctor was.  Sorry.

They did end up stretching mine larger the last time because it kept shrinking back down so far.  They did take their time because they didn't want to stretch it too much at once because there was danger of tearing it.

Just listen to your doctor and I promise you it does get better.   Has your weight loss been kind of slow?  Mine was until I was able to eat more.  Then it took off.

Let us know how you are doing.  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!  I DO understand because I have been there!!!

edited for spelling!!

Christ's peace,
