Hey Guys,

I'm three years out from RNY, have done really well, labs have always been great...until this time.  My iron level is down to 18.  B12 levels were through the roof.

I have ferrous gluconate that I have started taking with vitamin C.  What have you all taken that has helped once your iron level got too low??

C

                                        Pre-op: 234    Current: 142    Lowest: 134

I've had a 13 pound gain in the last year and a half... but I'm
working hard to lose it again!

Hey Cindy.  I'm in the same boat with you.  I have to go see my Hematologist next week.  I am on liquid iron and if that doesn't work, I will be getting the shots.  I HATE shots!

Have a great day my friend!

REPLEVA iron supplement...is what I have taken.  It is easy on the pouch and I don't have the constipation as I typically do with other iron supplements.
I HIGHLY recommend it!
Best wishes to you!

Believe it or not when my iron was a little low, I was told by my PCP to take Flinstones with iron twice a day for 2 months because it was easy on the stomach and intestines. It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've struggled with low iron over the last 2 years.  I switched to prenatal vitamins for the extra iron, and did eventually need an iron infusion. (Worse thing about the infusion was that it took 6hrs!)  I felt immediatley better afterwards.  My last bloodwork showed my iron low again, but I just started trying to eat more greens & stuff that's higher in iron.

Try the prenatals - that may do the trick for you.
