HELP

I know I don't post much because I don't have internet at home but I just need advice and this board (as my internet family) I need advice!!!

I just found out my job is sending me to MCALLEN TX for 2 weeks!! I have never flown nor been away from my family including my babies for any length of time... My husband is upset and not dealing with the news very well. He says I should tell them I can't go... I am a dedicated employee and feel like this could help to advance my career... and to even be chosen is an honor... but oh how I will be homesick not to mention my husband thinking I am leaving him and that his wife has no business in tx with out him.... He told me this morning that my priorities are wrong... Am I crazy for agreeing to go....

Yes I will miss my family oooohhh so much but it is just 2 weeks... He can step up and take care of the kids (as he never has before) and when the VP chooses to send you over 100 people how can you just say no...

I am so torn.. Please advise

Well, Kelly, I would go.  Now, I am not you and not in your situation with small children and all, but I would go due to the fact that it could be a stepping stone to something better.  However, you have to choose what you can do and live with.  I wish you all the best.

I tend to agree with Carmen, but I also do not have small children at home anymore.
However...my DH was a military man for 22 yrs...and his job took him away all the time. I had no choice but to deal with kids, house, etc w/o him.
Hope your DH can have a little more maturity about him and realize this is an opportunity for you. After all...he IS part of your team!! It is just 2 weeks, and TX is not that far away.

You very well miss out on an opportunity if you stay home.

And if your job also helps pay the family bills then I say your priorities are well in line.

Doesn't sound like your hubby is playing fair. If it were his company calling wanting him to go to TX for 2 weeks I bet he would go in a heartbeat and tell you to deal with it.


I am not saying to go but I don't want you to look back 2 years down the line and say I wonder what could have happened if I went to TX that time.  

First of all.. How was your check up appt with Dr. Dewitt??? Congrats on the weight loss.. wow 6lbs to go to goal!! I'm so happy and proud of ya!!

Kelly I thought this would come to pass as you talked about it when you were here. I had no idea Kyle would oppose this though. I know how you love those babies and your Hubby. And I know how you dream of one day being a stay at home Mom and putting family first. Your priorities are not wrong, Kelly. You know I know you. I know how you have struggled. How Kyle has struggled. This could be a stepping stone and to be chosen! How awesome!! It's only 2 weeks.. that could lead into something more not to mention the VP is noticing you!!!
God is opening doors Kelly. Don't be afraid to open and walk thru. Kyle will be waiting and so will those beautiful girls!!! Youve got a phone not like you cant talk to them at night.
The adventure is just beginning for you.. YOU are doing this BECAUSE your priorities are all right.. YOU want to support your family and give them all you can.. nothing wrong with that.

Remember you know your family will be there for the girls and Kyle knows that too.. it's just 2 weeks you have the rest of your lives!!

I would feel the same way if I were placed in that situation.

It is difficult to be two persons in one body. What your gut tells you to do is probably where your decision needs to be.  You cannot please everyone involved but you can take this situation and allow it to help mold you into the person you want to be or become. God has a way of placing these things in our lives to enhance our own understanding of ourselves.

I think the initial shock to my husband is going away even tho I warned him months ago that this might come to pass.

He has called me asking where and when now...

I guess it was the initial freak out because he is getting better. I told him I was going and he had my family to help with the kids and they would be just fine....

and I know since I am newly out of surgery the thought is their is she going to get "skinny" and leave me. Maybe he is in the back of his mind afraid I will decide I don't want him... Which will not be the case....

So while I am their I will have internet access at the hotel and will be needing support then too.... Cause you know I will be homesick.....

I leave September 14... I asked mom if she had a good suitcase.. You know me I have never went anywhere.. When we came to see you if you remember I put the kids close in a laundry basket.. HEHEHE Yeah instead of going shopping I have been wearing Katlyns school close we also share shoes.. (yes I am sharing close with my 9 year old) that feels good to get to say) so one of us has to go shopping....

.. When I talked to you yesterday I didn't know or I would have told you.. I found out about 9:00 last night....

Kyle said he knew when my cell rang and it was my boss that something was up...

I'd lend you a suitcase if I lived closer! lol
I won't be up there before then.. unless Gustav comes Tuesday and then I'm outta here!!!!!
