Wow, it's been 4 years!

Here I sit reflecting on the past 4 years.  Yes, today is my four year surgiversary, the four year anniversary of my rebirth!  Hard to believe it's been four years already!  Mixed emotions - a little disappointed that I haven't reached goal, but on the other hand, happy that I'm not in a wheel chair or my grave.  Surely, that’s where I was headed without the aid of WLS.  Over the last year, I’ve developed a few very minor complications - nothing life threatening thank goodness.  These complications are my own darn fault.  If I had been more diligent in taking my vitamins, I would not be a little low on iron, vitamin D, and vitamin C.  Doing things my own way usually gets me in trouble, so why haven’t I learned to follow instructions better?  My blood pressure has remained fairly normal, and rather than taking five prescriptions a day for HBP, I take one very mild one.  Cholesterol, blood sugar, calcium, protein, B-12, and all other levels are within normal to excellent range.  At four year’s post-op, I do admit to missing some of the attention and compliments that accompanied the rapid weight loss and amazing changes of the first year or two.  Many of my friends still celebrate the changes in my energy level, looks, and life in general with me.  Most of my relationships have changed for the better.  There are a few who still don’t “get it”, and question why I would do something so drastic to my body.  Well, it’s my body and I did what needed to be done to improve it.  This 56 year old body isn’t perfect and will never be perfect, but it’s definitely much better than it was four years ago.

I cannot put into words the appreciation I feel for the support of my wonderful husband, George, while I continue to make my life adjustments.  There were times when I’d get impatient because I felt he was trying to police my eating.  I know it was for my own benefit and not that he was trying to run my life.

The unconditional love and support of my OFF sisters and brothers (Over Fifty Forum) and others within the OH family has been a Godsend!  I treasure their friendship and thank God every day for them.  Most of them have BTDT and so totally understand.  My wish for you “Newbies” is that you find health and happiness during your wls journey.  I hope I can return some of the support to you that I have been given.

Of course, I can’t forget my family, friends, and coworkers who have been my own personal cheering section.  I am forever grateful for their encouraging words.

Much thanks and love to all!
Debbie

Way Too Go Debbie !! My ride will soon be here !!

Nothing tastes as good as being thinner feels.

I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

Heck, I posted and it disappeared!

Thanks Carmen!  I so appreciate the support of my BAMA and OFF friends.  First I thank God for this opportunity, secondly my surgeon, and last, but not least my friends and family.  I'd never have been able to do this alone.

"Skinny" LOL  Not by a mile.  Never will the word skinny be used in reference to me, and that's OK, 'cause I'm healthy!
