Can I get an answer?

Ok, I don't know what a NUT class is?  Is this the psychological for the surgery?  If it is and it is with Dr. Miles's psychologist, it is because you will be taking a bunch of tests.  I use to have the names of them.  It will take you a while.  Then he will talk to you and tell you stuff that you already know and cannot believe he thinks that it is so unusual that he can figure that out from the tests.   The tests that he uses are pretty common and mostly measure things like depression and motivation.  They also screen you for an eating disorder.

Actually, if you are over weight, most likely you will test positive for a eating disorder.  However, some eating disorder...like compulsive eating...do better with weight loss surgery.  Of course, the kind who starve themselves aren't over weight....duh?  And the bulimics are usually a normal weight....so I don't know what they need to know other than you are overweight.

ok, thank you.  I was confused about the "NUT" class.   That class was one of the most helpful that I had.  The only thing that bothered me was that Dr. Miles's person showed us the instruments that they were going to use on us.  When I saw those it was way too much information.  If anything would have made me run from the building, that was it.  The information was really good and I still have all the stuff that she gave me that day and refer to it often.  I don't recall that it took the whole 3 hours, but it did take a long time, but we were interested in the whole process.

I apologize for thinking that you were talking about the psychological.  Some people often assume that "nut" applies to things that are psychological.  In many instances, people do say that people are "nuts", etc.  It is not politically correct, but it is not uncommon usage.  I apologize to anyone who may have been offended by my misunderstanding of what you were saying.

Vickie- The nutrition class is also an orientation and trust me, Veronica will utilize the full three hours to discuss everything from pre-op, post-op, what your family can expect, what you can expect, and the actual procedure.  A nutritionist will join you for the last half and give you directions on eating as well. It is well worth your time.  You will also be with a few other people and this will give you a chance to express any concerns about the surgery and share with others as you ALL begin the process of this wonderful journey. As someone who has been where you are and I have now lost 80lbs since last August, had NO side effects, no additional hospitalizations, and now lead a very active and healthy lifestyle, I will tell you that every minute is well worth the time spent with her and the others.  As far as the 45 mins early,  if they still have the same registration procedure, you need to go through the registration office downstairs first then proceed upstairs. Sometime there are people ahead of you in line to register for other things so this insures you are not late for the class.  Good luck and enjoy the ride of your life as it begins in just a few short weeks. Stay focused and stay POSITIVE even through any discomfort or distress you may feel.  That positive attitude is what will keep you losing weight and feeling great. Trust me on that one, my friend!
God Bless, Nanci
