I saw this link on the main board and took the time to read the article.  There are some very interesting and very true points mentioned.  Just thought some of you might enjoy reading it.  I will say that I have no regrets about having my surgery; but, I am finding the weight very hard to keep off.  I never really reached MY GOAL and feel like I can eat just as much now as I could before the surgery.

Thanks for posting, this also was in Self Mag. yes it showes we have alot of work ahead of us to learn a new way to eat. Dr. Snow said that we don't even follow up with him. Why? Who knows. I had the lap-band and I know its alot of my fault that I haven't reach my goal. But, now I'm back on track. Just remember if you eat to much that weight will be back. Stay in a good support group.

Finally someone posting about weight loss and obesity information on the Alabama WEIGHT LOSS AND OBESITY board.  I read the article and i hope others will too esp. those considering wls. I had RNY in Feb. and have suffered from many of those side effects it referred too.  the wl was so fast that i have had gall stones and have had to go in and out of the hospital for episodes of passing out and severe dumping. but it is because i was still eating like a fat person. i think if you are considering this surgery PLEASE work on your mind before the doctor works on your body. Changing my eating habits has been the HARDEST thing and i can see where it could be easy to gain the weight back.  don;t get me wrong, if i had it to do over, I would still get the bypass. It hassaved me from a life of HBpressure, diabetes, and heart disease. plus i look incredible and people don't recognize me from 8 months ago. but i wished i had red more information about first. i can deal with the complications if i know that i am at a greater risk for them. i'm not blaming anyone because it is about personal responsiblity (no not even gonna blame "the devil" for it either) but it is a serious surgery and should never be taken lighlty.
