I am in no way trying to step on anyone's toes by posting this.

Debbie Doo took the one in Montevallo and I took the course offered by R.I.D.E. Obviously, I live on the MS gulf coast so my course was  in Gulfport, MS.  R.I.D.E. has locations in Birmingham and Pelham too.  I LOVED the course I took with R.I.D.E. and return most weekends to ride/practice with the "new" class being taught that weekend.

On the insurance side R.I.D.E. mentioned several companies that offer a nice discount if you send a copy of your certificate.

Here is R.I.D.E.'s website if anyone is interested.   http://www.ridemotorschool.com/

Regardless of which motor school you attend be safe, relax and have fun!!!

I was going to post a request for you to mention this but you beat me to it!!

I think either course would be great. The guys that worked with us were both on the police force - one retired and one active. They were very patient and understanding and yet wanted you to exceed and excel. The heat was just unbearable so I would really suggest waiting a little while if at all possible.

Leo and I have been riding together a couple of times and I am really getting more and more comfortable on the bike. I haven't made it to over 50 mph yet but Leo says it won't be long. I'm doing so much better on pulling out onto the roads and my U-turns. All that worry for nothing and yet it is best to stay a little scared and nervous just out of respect for the motorcycle and dangers.

Hope to see you on the road one day!!

Yes we do have to have alot of respect for the dangers involved in riding our motorcycles.  I find I am so much more focused when I ride mine.  I havent rode nearly as much as I would like to recently but that is mostly because I figure I am not real "sharp" after only 4 hours of sleep a night on a consistant basis.
I love my Motorcycle!!

I know what you mean about being focused Kim. I am more aware of my surroundings and other drivers and intersections, road surfaces, you name it. And it feels so strange to get back in the car when you've been on the motorcycle.

I would definitely want to be at my best to get on mine!!!

I am hoping to get on mine this weekend for a bit. Riding mine is good therapy.....because I am only thinking about the road not everything else I deal with in life. my husband rides his almost every day to work. we sure are seeing more and more bikes on the road these days

I'm taking the next two days off to do some cleaning around the house and the camper and we will definitely get back on the bikes. Leo has a 2004 Valkyrye - excuse my spelling. Not that thing is a big bike. Its a downsized Gold Wing. I love riding on the back and not having to worry about anything. Leo was a motorcycle cop for about 10 years and his training sure has come in handy. One dealer we went to said they can't keep up with the demand.

Memaw (Pat) went through the same training course I went through and she looks so good on a motorcycle. She was a lot more comfortable than I was. I wish she would come out and post about her experience. I just wonder if she's riding alone any yet. I would bet that she is.

Thank you for sharing this link too! We are SERIOUSLY thinking about a nice Motorcycle for my DH to drive to work and it has not gone without criticism from well meaning family and friends. BUT...it is our decision and I think with proper training like these suggested courses, we will make the best decision for us.  THANKS!

I told my sister about my new Suzuki and the riding course and she flipped out. I've been made aware that I am too old, too careless, too uncoordinated and just plain stupid to even think about riding one. I just laughed and told her to keep me in her prayers. I was ok with her words but she went and told my mother and my mother was just as vocal. They are scared to death for me to get on my own bike. So, I just don't tell them when I'm going riding.

The training is wonderful and if I had not gone through the majority of it, I would not feel as good about it as I do.

That's exactly what I have. It's a 2007 and it's red. We bought it from a good friend who bought her a Harley Davidson - 880. I think that's right. Anyway, we got a beauty of a deal. We paid 3000.00 for it and it has very low mileage, saddle bags, and looks brand new. I think she rode it about 5 times and wanted a bigger one. My good fortune!!!!!
