New to this

My name is Theresa and I live in Millbrook. I've decided to have the RNY, but I would love info on doctors, advice on how to navigate insurance (I have BCBS of AL/PEEHIP) and just support in general. Thanks!

Welcome to the Bama Board, Theresa!! I have a very dear friend who lives in Millbrook!! I am in way NE Alabama, so I do not know the dr's in your area. I am sure someone can offer you advice on the BCBS procedures, etc. I have TRICARE Prime and had a very easy approval process almost 3 yrs ago.

WELCOME to the Bama Board Ressie and our Family!  We are here for ya.  One may not be able to answer your question, but another can!  We are all people that believe in working together to help someone on this journey.  Get ready for the ride of a lifetime, but what a ride it is!  You'll be glad to know there is an awesome Dr. in Prattville.  I had a friend from here in Luverne use him.  Actually, 2 friends from here.  His name is Dr. Mora.  I used Dr. Rex Sherer in Alabaster and I couldn't have been more pleased.  Keep us posted and we look forward to hearing more from you!  God bless and prayers for ya going up!

Thanks for the info on the local doc. I've been looking at doctors in Birmingham b/c I didn't know there were any in my area.

BCBS.. document, document, document.. you will probably be required to get a 7 month diet - visit your primary doctor once a month for documentation and weigh in.. Check your policy by calling them to find out!

I've started the physician supervised diet already. I actually called a rep today about a vague statement about "dietition consultation." I thought that might mean that I needed a consult w/ a nutritionist. The rep w/ BCBS didn't think so, but didn't sound all that confident either. Would you know anything about that? Thank you for you prayers!

Make a new post info on BCBS .. I bet alot will come out that have BCBS..
Most I know had to do a 7month physician supervised diet.. had to list 3-5 years of diet info (Atkins, Weigh****chers, Southbeach..whatever diet you might have tried)
Most had been seeing doctors and had documentation of yo-yo weight loss.
Also you have to have co-morbities ie. high blood pressure, sleep apnea, asthma, diabetes..
I hope this helps.  I don't know of many that had seen a dietician but maybe during the surgery consult (I know some had them at surgeons office for some of the seminars)
