Lapband and Protein Bars

How well do you tolerate protein bars? Are some better than others? In September I'll be going to a Women's Retreat down in Talladega and thinking ahead. I'll be at the point where I can eat real food but I'm not sure if testing the waters is wise when one is 3 hours from home. I'm thinking that I'll pack a small cooler with protein shakes and etc just in case.

Thanks everyone!

I am not a lapbander so not sure I can answer this right, but some protein bars are very chewy and could get stuck, so if you try them, just make sure you chew them well and take tiny bites.  It's probably kind of like how us RNY-ers have to do especially at first.  I know it's a little scary to go out of town that early out from your surgery, but you have the right idea.  Pack a cooler with things you know work for you!  You know what they say:  "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail!"

Congratulations on getting your date.  Dr. Mailapur is doing my DD's surgery Aug. 4th.

Jessica was so excited to call and give me the news. I think I broke her heart last week when we realized that the wrong surgery was approved.

There are a few protein bars that I really like but they have peanuts in them and I know that some bandsters have problems with them. One of the things I've forced myself to do is take smaller bites and chew well.

In the past the retreat served soup at lunch and dinner but I have to be prepared! Thankfully there is a Walmart nearby! lol
