Debbie Doo where are you?
Oh Debbie I am so sorry you didnt pass the driving part but I totaly understand. I am scared to death too and I think that is what messes me up. Anthony is home from his dads adn Terrell should be home by the 2nd. Once they both are home they want to go take the written test. I told them Iw ould go with them but I am a little CHICKEN ! I dunno I might go! Do I just ask the DMV to direct me to a motorcycle class? Cuz I think I might need one! Do ya have to have your own bike? My dad was teasing me the other day and said after my fall on my boys bike he has decided to buy me a scooter!
So glad you had fun an was able to see Memaw, it is always nice to have someone you knwo there with you. You just take it easy and with due time you will be out on the road ripping and roaring! Love ya bunches girly!

Hey Susan!!!
We had a ball learning how to ride safely. I was so happy to find Memaw in my classroom. It made me feel so much better. I did great on the written test - made a 100 but when we got out on the course Sunday afternoon I just blew it totally!!! I started off by getting my boot caught in the gear changer (over and over again). It seems that my boot has a lip around the top and it liked getting hung up!!! Secondly, I had a throttle that just loved getting stuck while revved up. I told the instructors and they told me to just play with it and it would slip back down. Well, that wasn't happening so I had to contend with a stuck throttle, a stuck boot and when you add the two together it spells bad news for Debbie Doo. I started out great Sunday and was going around the course and getting a little speed up. I shifted to 2nd gear and yes, my boot got caught so I was fighting with it and kind of panicked and failed to pay attention to my driving. The next thing I knew I ended up on the side of the course in the middle of all the weeds and bushes!! Thank the good Lord I wasn't on the side of the track with all the state cars!! I couldn't believe what I had done. Anyway, that scared me to no end and the next exercise they told us we would be getting more speed up and start doing curves. My nerves were shot and I was on the verge of hyperventilating so I pulled over and had a good breakdown. One of the insturctors came over and talked to me and he could tell how upset I was and how scared I was. We decided that I had done a great job and had learned some invaluable maneuvers but it was time for me to step back. I really wanted to graduate but I'm ok with it. My husband was a little dissapointed but he was so sweet. He's going to work with me now one on one and we'll overcome my fears and I'll be riding with the best of them. At least I did learn how to crank up, ride down the road, change gears, go into curves, how to stop correctly and at a moment's notice. I just need to work on my turns and my speed and my fear. I can do it!!!! I can still legally ride the bike because of the grandfather clause - I'm old as dirt and so I already have the endorsement on my license.
Pat was still hanging in there and doing great so I feel confident she passed with flying colors.
I hope to take the course again in the fall.
Thanks for asking!!!
Love,
DebbieDoo

I actually went online and did a search for motorcycle training in Montgomery, AL. It directed me to a couple of places and I chose the Montevallo class. They hold classes at night which is a little easier to handle than the heat of the day. Its still hot and we all were soaked but it could have been a lot worse. We had people in our class from Birmingham, Troy, Columbus, Ga. and other area's of Alabama. They provided the motorcycle - a little 250 cc and if you need a helmet, they provide that. You have to have over the ankle boots, eye protection, and gloves.
I've heard that the written test is pretty difficult but they provide study booklets at the DMV. I'd get me one of those and study up. The written test we took was very simple - IF you had studied and listened.
I feel confident that Leo will be able to take it from here and get me in good shape.
